Charges are pending against a 23-year-old Winnipeg man after an eight-month-old baby was stabbed in the head near the eye.
Police are not releasing the name of the accused, but say he is facing charges of aggravated assault and assault with a weapon.
Police say the man was involved in a dispute with his common-law wife at her home Saturday afternoon when he swung a metal object at them, injuring his young son.
The child is in hospital in critical but stable condition.
The man is also charged with breaching his recognizance because he was under court orders to stay away from his wife.
Police got a 911 call Saturday about a baby with serious injuries outside on a street in front of a Manitoba Housing Authority complex in Winnipeg's north end.
It's the second violent incident involving babies at the same public housing complex in less than a month.
