Dad in court for beheading son, stabbing son's mother (Bushbuckridge, South Africa)

Dad VICTOR MASHEGO has been arrested for beheading his 1-year-old son and viciously stabbing the boy's mother.

Bushbuckridge - An Mpumalanga father arrested in connection with the beheading of his one-year-old son appeared in court on Tuesday.

Victor Mashego, 24, a cattle herder from Hluvukani, appeared in the Mhala magistrate’s court charged with murder following the death of his son Calvin.

He was also charged with attempted murder in connection with the vicious stabbing of Calvin’s mother, Jennifer Mnisi, 20.

Mhala police spokesperson, Constable Robert Makhuvele, said police were called to a house in Dingleydale village in Bushbuckridge on Saturday evening where they were greeted by a horrifying sight.

“Police officers found the one-year-old boy’s grandmother sitting on the floor with the boy’s headless body in her arms,” said Makhuvele.

On the other side of the room lay Calvin’s mother, bleeding profusely from stabs wound to the neck

She was rushed to Mapulaneng hospital, where she is still fighting for her life.

Mashego was arrested at his home on Sunday. He wasn’t asked to plead to the charges and was remanded into custody until his bail application on September 29.
