An Avondale man could face the death penalty if he's found guilty of the murder of his 19 month old son. 27 year old James Lyons has been indicted by a Hamilton County Grand Jury on a list of charges.
Rescuers were called to the family's home on September 12th. They found 19 month old son Jaden had suffered severe head trauma. The little boy was taken to Children's Hospital, where he died.
The Hamilton County Coroner found evidence of healed injuries and severe bruises during the child's autopsy. Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters believes Jaden suffered abuse between June of 2008 and the date of his death. In a statement released to the media, Deters says, "The suffering that this baby endured is beyond imagination. Every rib, except six, had been fractured. His skull was fractured by at least seven separate blows to the head. Anyone who beats a child this severely for so long could expect nothing less than that the child would die."
Lyons is charged with two counts of murder, one count of aggravated murder, three counts of felonious assault and three counts of child endangering. If convicted of all charges, he faces the death penalty.
Lyons has been held on one million dollars bond since his arrest.
