Warri — A middle-aged teacher has allegedly killed his six year old child over N35,000.

Palpable sadness swept residents of Odion Road and Pessu Street in the oil-rich city of Warri, last Tuesday morning, when they woke up to learn of the killing.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the angry man beat up the six- year old, Master Boristsefe James on the mere allegation that the child stole his N35,000

Our checks showed that the elder brother of the deceased, Master Eworiste James was also beaten up by his father but he was lucky to be alive.

At the mother's family residence at Pessu Street , were Master Eworitse James had taken refuge, some members of the family initially resisted enquiry into the incident apparently due to public ridicule.

Master Eworitse who has several bruises on his back, indicative of a history of child abuse by their father, narrated how his younger brother, Boritsefe was murdered by their father.

According to him, their father accused them of stealing his N35,000, which they denied. But this never went down well with their father who then descended on them heavily, he said.

"My father hit my younger brother on the ground and he died in the process," he said.

Their mother, a 300 level economics student of the Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, who did not want her name in print, said she had to rush down home on receiving the news of her son's death.

The apartment of Mr. James Omotete, at No.10 Odion Road, was under lock and key when this reporter visited.

LEADERSHIP investigation revealed that he is presently in detention, having been picked up by security operatives at Demonstration Secondary School, Warri, where he teaches.
