Dad faces child neglect charges after 2-year-old daughter found wandering at 2 AM (Marshfield, Wisconsin)

Classic.

Obviously this involves some sort of custody/visitation situation, but the details are not spelled out. Did dad have "shared" custody? Full custody? What? Who gave him access?

UNNAMED DAD

MARSHFIELD, Wis. (WSAU) -- A little girl that wandered away from home is OK, but her father could be charged with child neglect as soon as today.

The 35-year-old man claims he couldn’t sleep, so he left his nearly three-old daughter alone in the house to get some recyclable metal out of a dumpster early Wednesday morning. Apparently, the girl couldn’t sleep either, and she wandered out of the house.

A stranger passing by spotted the toddler at about 2 o’clock in the morning, and stopped to investigate.

The child was wandering alone on busy South Central Avenue in her pajamas and was barefoot. The passerby took the girl to a nearby convenience store and contacted police. The child was taken to her grandparent’s home. The parents live separately. Names have not been released.
