Dad accused of burning 2-year-old daughter in scalding water as punishement during potty training (Austin, Texas)

Once again, there is a lot that is not being told in this account, and much that is only hinted at.

Is this a custody/visitation situation? Or does this father have full custody? Notice the following:

1) Reference to the father's siter being in the home--but no mention of the mother.

2) CPS working on a "safety plan" to protect the father's four children. Huh? Why? Is he the primary giver? Still no mention of whether this CPS plan will involve the mother(s), as there is no mention of any mother(s) at all. Why?

3) In fact, why is there no reference to any mother anywhere in this account? Did Daddy find these kids in a cabbage patch or something? Why are the mothers erased from this account? Is it to protect those who may have given this father custody of these kids?

Dad is identified as IRA KINCHEON.

AUSTIN (KXAN) - A 24-year-old father is accused of burning his 2-year-old daughter in scalding hot water as punishment during potty training.

Ira Kincheon is now facing first-degree felony charges of injury to a child.

"The victim's sister stated that the father pushed the victim in the sink because she didn't use the bathroom," said Austin Police Officer Jermaine Kilgore.

According to arrest affidavits, on Aug. 11 the girl had an accident on the floor. Kincheon admitted to police that he was upset and put her in the sink to teach her a lesson while cleaning the toddler, the document said.

"When I came outside they were bringing the little girl out and she was hollering and crying she was burned pretty bad," said neighbor Casandra Byrd. "That's not good parenting that just cruel."

The child was taken to Dell Children's Medical Center where officials alerted police and Child Protective Services.

Child Protective Services officials said they're working on a safety plan to protect Kincheon's four children. The officials did not specify if the toddler still lives in the same home as Kincheon.

Last year in Travis County, CPS investigated more than 7,900 child abuse cases and more than 3,000 victims; two of those resulted in death.

CPS said potty training can cause frustration among some parents and could potentially lead to child abuse. For tips on how to keep training fun and positive, check a special page on the CPS webpage.

After APD's investigation Kincheon was arrested on Thursday. He is being held in the Travis County Jail where his bond was set at $35,000.
