Dad charged with assault and child abuse of 5-week-old daughter; baby in coma on life support (Fulton County, Maryland)

WASHINGTON COUNTY, MD - A Fulton County man is behind bars Friday night accused of abusing his five-week-old daughter.

The girl, named Bella, is currently in critical condition in a coma and on life support at Children's Hospital in Washington, D.C.

Her father, Nicholas McKee, is charged with assault and child abuse.

Officers were called to a home in Hancock on Sunday evening. The baby was reportedly not breathing.

Investigators say McKee was the one who called 911.

T.J. Buskirk, Hancock Police Chief says,"It was determined that the injuries that this infant sustained was not accidental as far as the child did not slip and fall on its own."

McKee is awaiting his appearance before a district court commissioner to have bond set in his case.
