Dad with history of DV, child abuse "suspect" in murders of 4-year-old daughter, her mom (Chicago, Illinois)

WHOA. There is a lot here that is not explained very well.

It is pretty clear that dad NATHANIEL BELER has an extensive history of domestic violence and child abuse. But what happened after that?

Well, we're told that Mom "sought" an order of protection. We're not told that she received one. Would be nice to have it clarified what happened here, and what judge f***ed up. But this being Chicago and all, we sort of breeze by all that.

We're also told that dad had previously been "accused" of abusing the kids (but not convicted?), and that he had previously been banned from visiting the kids "without social worker supervision." (Which, as far as I'm concerned, is useless. Either you're safe or you're not. Remember JOSH POWELL? Who murdered his kids during supervised visitation in a very similar way, by stabbing and arson? All while the supervisor was locked out of the house?)

And yet, here we are told that Mom and the kids were "visiting" dad when they were killed. Was a supervisor there? Had Dad gained unsupervised visitation? No explanation.

I suspect a lot of backstory here that is not being told. And that there were those in authority who deliberately put this mother and her kids in harm's way.

Mom and 4-year-old daughter die after dad sets house fire

Four-year-old Nariyah Beler died yesterday, two days after her father, Nathaniel Beler, 29, allegedly stabbed his daughter’s mom and then set fire to a home in the Lawndale area of Chicago. Young Nariyah died from injuries sustained in that fire.

The 4-year-old girl suffered burns to 100 percent of her body.

Nariyah’s mother, Taniya Johnson, died Saturday from injuries sustained in the house fire. The father suspected of setting the blaze, Nathaniel Beler, died on Sunday.

Authorities believe that that Nathaniel Beler used an accelerant inside the home to set a quick spreading and deadly raging inferno according to The Chicago Sun-Times.

Also injured in the house fire was Nathaniel Beler’s and Taniya Johnson’s 9-year-old niece Naciere who survived the fire but is listed in critical condition at Stroger Hospital.

The father, Nathaniel Beler, had previously been accused of abusing his children and was banned by the courts from visiting the children without social worker supervision.

The deceased mother, Taniya Johnson, had sought an order of protection against Beler, who was convicted of domestic battery twice since 2007.

On Dec. 29, the mom and kids were visiting Beler when he allegedly stabbed the mom and set fire to the home.
