Doctors say they plan to study results of an MRI Tuesday to determine if Varian Arthur suffered permanent brain damage. His mother, Alexandra Arthur, says he continues to suffer from seizures and remains on a breathing machine.
Police arrested Eric Arthur, 24, and charged him with assaulting the child. According to the police report, he shook the baby trying to make him stop crying. Alexandra Arthur says Varian's father admitted the whole thing, claiming he blacked out and that he was sorry for what he did. The couple have other children together, and Alexandra Arthur says Eric had never showed violent tendencies toward the kids before, but she thinks he has anger issues.
"I will do everything in my power to keep my children away from him, because obviously this is not OK. And if he's capable of hurting a baby - I won't ever be able to trust him with the kids again," she said.
