Injured Elbert County Infant Dies; Father Jailed
Large Turnout For Marlayna Dolin's Funeral

KIOWA, Colo. -- Dozens of people packed a small church in Kiowa and a small cemetery in Elizabeth on Wednesday to remember a baby girl who investigators believe was a victim of child abuse.
While family and friends said goodbye to 4-month-old Marlayna Dolin, her father, Richard Dolin, 26, sat in the Elbert County jail, charged with child abuse.
The infant was hospitalized March 14, when authorities were called to a home on a report of a baby having seizures.
Friends told 7NEWS that doctors at Children’s Hospital placed the infant in an induced coma three times “to let her little brain rest from the seizures.”
She succumbed to her injuries April 1.
“She’s with God now,” said family friend Christa Huck. “She’s an angel.”
Huck was among many friends and neighbors who attended Marlayna’s funeral.
“It’s been really hard,” Huck said. “We all prayed and hoped for a miracle, but obviously it didn’t happen the way we were hoping.”
Now, their prayers are being focused on the baby's family.
While Marlayna’s mom, Jaime, tries to come to terms with what happened, her father faces a possible enhanced charge of child abuse resulting in death.
He’s being held in the Elbert County jail on $100,000 bond.
Court documents in the case have been sealed, so details of what investigators believe happened are not available. Richard Dolin declined an interview request.
He’s due back in court April 23.

If it's Colorado, I'd be hesitant to judge without seeing the evidence, believe me, the DAs and CPS in CO lie like no other. I was charged with child neglect, for a dirty house, while my abusive husband [two of my children-teens btw, are not even his] was not charged, not only that, he was made 'victim' status because God forbid, a husband doesn't have any DUTY to pick up a dirty house--
ReplyDeletethe best part, I am mostly bed ridden, disabled, that was ignored, deliberately by the DAs in CO, CPS finally after seeing the medical records from spine doctors AND after they themselves had to take me to hospital for further injury to my spine after remodeling the house [that my lazy abusive coercive husband laughingly neglected and still does] and then they dropped the case--however the cops has charged me and I was forced to plea to protect my children from his abuse--
btw, my husband did this to two other women, I found, in same state...he co-opts the system to abuse women, or control, he likes women sick, disabled and completely dependent, he even calls himself Dr. He's a narcissistic psychopath who even brags about his criminal behavior. The DAs were too lazy to even bother to look into him.
He works for the state, so they protect their own....what they do in family courts they also do in criminal courts and probation and CPS. Once the DA made my jack ass husband a 'victim' he assaulted my 19 year old daughter--oh yea,
with the blessing AND PROTECTION from none other than the state. CPS knew of his abuse, they told me, and I quote: "women who are victims or ever have been of DV are mentally ill". Because you see, it's then all about labeling you as mentally ill and then that system, in their attempts to force you into drugs...submission,
that's what my husband did to his ex wife in SAME STATE, he succeeded in using CPS against her, she was on so many drugs by the time they were done [ignoring his criminal neglect] that she had to run from the state--he still stalks her today and the kids from her are grown.
So, while I concur with 99% of what's on your site, I will say, CO has horrid record of children murdered in foster care here, the private corps who own foster care are NOT AUDITED here so there is no accountability, and it's huge money--it's no doubt MAFIA run here, and I'm researching this now because I won't be silent, I was set up, civil rights brutally ignored, my children further endangered, and all by the profit driven state players. My 19 year old wants to sue under TORT but she is afraid--the judge gave me six months prob, he was shocked to find out how disabled I was--the DA and my PD did all they could to bound and gag me, the judge knew obviously,
but it didn't matter. Hell the DA and Probation still to this day, can't even get my children's names right and put my daughter as his, even though he has absolutely no legal rights over her, it's unreal at just how corrupt this is--my children btw are all teens, five people, dirty house, they charge a bed ridden woman with severe spine disease with medical Xrays and proof, I hardly can walk. That didn't matter--
so, where this case is concerned, I'd want to SEE the evidence, all that is mentioned is that the baby was having seizures, was she hit, shaken? We don't know,
but This I do know, CO DAs LIE OUT THEIR ASS--

Marlayna's injuries were caused by being shaken. The father also has a 3-year-old son, who is now with Marlayna's mom even though he isn't her child. For the time being they are staying with Marlayna's grandparents, who are wonderful people, and are being very well cared for. I lived in this small community for 20 years and know that the authorities will be very thorough in their investigation.
