Dad behind bars for abusing 2-year-old daughter (Gulfport, Mississippi)

Dad is identified as LAWRENCE REID. The child is now in the custody of DHS, and there is NO MENTION of the child's mother at all. What happened to Mom?

Gulfport father accused of child abuse

A Gulfport man is behind bars and charged with one count of child abuse on Tuesday, according to Gulfport police. Authorities said they received a report about a two-year-old being treated at Garden Park Hospital for an internal injury.

Officials said the toddler's injuries are a result of an incident that happened at the 3300 block of 39th Avenue in Gulfport. An investigation led to the arrest of the toddler’s 22-year-old father Lawrence Reid.

The child is now in the custody of the Department of Human Services. She was also transported to another hospital for treatment.

Reid was arrested and taken to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center. He is being held on a $100,000 bond set by Harrison County Justice Court Judge Brandon Ladner.
