Sangamon County State’s Attorney John Milhiser said late Saturday night an injured 2-month-old Springfield boy remained in critical condition and that his office was still investigating the matter.
The boy, injured Thursday, was airlifted to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, where his condition Friday was listed as critical.
A nursing supervisor on Saturday said she could find no record of the boy being treated there.
The Peoria County coroner’s office said they’d received no reports related to the case.
The boy’s 20-year-old father, Demarco Elbert of the 2600 block of Sherwood Street, has been jailed but is not yet formally charged. He was still being held on $500,000 bond in the Sangamon County Jail Saturday night.
Family members took the boy to St. John’s Hospital Thursday afternoon. The child had numerous injuries, including to the head and body, police said.
