Watertown, NY -- A Watertown man who troopers said dropped and injured his 5-year-old son while disciplining the boy Saturday was charged with assault and endangering the welfare of a child, state police said today.

Bryon L. Holmes, 35, of 16627 Parker Road, Watertown, dropped his son on the bathroom floor, causing a hematoma on the back of the boy's head, troopers said. Holmes is also accused of causing two bruises to his son's face while disciplining the boy Saturday, troopers said.

Holmes was issued an appearance ticket on the two misdemeanor charges.
