Four-year-old child may have watched dad murder mom (Hialeah, Florida)

It seems scumbag dad JOSE ANTONIO PUPO-GONZALEZ "allegedly" stranged to death the mother of his 4-year-old son--and right in front of the boy too. Two other children were "found" at the scene as well. These days, I suppose we're supposed to be grateful that Daddy didn't slaughter the whole family. That seems to be the trendy thing these days, especially in Florida. What a future these children will have...my heart goes out to them.

HIALEAH, Fla. (WSVN) -- Police believe that a 4-year-old witnessed his father murder his mother inside their home.

Wednesday afternoon, police received a tip that a murder may have occurred at the Golden Eagle Apartments, located at 6565 W. 2 Ct. When police arrived on scene, they discovered the dead body of 31-year-old Yoanys Martinez-Avila. Police also found the victim's 13-year-old and 4-year-old sons, who were unharmed.

Police said, 37-year-old Jose Antonio Pupo-Gonzalez killed his wife, Martinez-Avila, and left her to die in their apartment. Police believed the suspect strangled his wife. "It's scary. It's scary to live next door to something so horrible happening next door to me. It's very scary," said neighbor Kimberly Borrell.

According to Hialeah Police, the couple's 4-year-old son may have seen his father, Pupo-Gonzalez, strangle his mother. "That's what we have evidence to believe right now," Hialeah Police Detective Carl Zogby said. "The 4-year-old definitely has made statements that he saw something that looks like what we are considering the homicide."

During the search for Pupo-Gonzalez, officers found his Buick Skylark outside the Hialeah Chamber of Commerce building. Authorities evacuated women and children from the building as the SWAT Team searched for the suspect but were not able to find him.

The manhunt for Pupo-Gonzalez ended at around 5:30 p.m., when the suspect was struck by a van while fleeing across the southbound lanes of the Palmetto Expressway at Okeechobee Road, in Hialeah Gardens.

Soon after, dozens of police units converged on the southbound lanes of the expressway, also known as the 826 Expressway, blocking several lanes of traffic. Pupo-Gonzalez was arrested and taken away on a stretcher in stable condition to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he remains in custody. "I didn't see it in him, I mean, he pretty much kept to himself," said Pedro Martin, who knows the suspect.

An autopsy will be performed on Martinez-Avila on Thursday.
