Dad charged with child abuse; 2-month-old son may have permanent brain damage (Artesia, New Mexico)
Standard issue shaken baby story. Dad EMILIANO BARELA "allegedly" got "frustrated" with his crying 2-month-old son, so he violently shook the baby--leaving what may be permanent brain damage. No mention of Mom, so it's likely he was "caretaking" by himself.
INVISIBLE MOTHER ALERT.

An Artesia father is facing felony child abuse charges after investigators say he admitted to violently shaking his infant son so badly that the baby may suffer permanent brain damage.
Investigators say Emiliano Barela, 23, admitted he was frustrated with his two-month-old son when he wouldn’t stop crying. Police say Barela shook his son for at least a minute causing major injuries.
Doctors say a CT scan of the baby’s brain showed signs of shaken baby syndrome. The infant was flown to a Lubbock, Texas hospital and remains in serious condition.
Barela could face up to 18 years in jail if convicted.
