Dad accused of stabbing 14-year-old son, mom during fishing trip (Walnut Creek, California)
I can just imagine why the friends of the teen son decided they "had to leave." Maybe because Daddy GARY GOMEZ is a nut job? And why do reporters claim this was the result of an "argument"? Sounds to me like any dad who would object to somebody going home at 2 AM is a crazy control freak. At any rate, the control freak is accused of stabbing his son 11 times over this "argument," then stabbing his wife in hands as she tried to move the boys to safety.

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - A Livermore, Calif., man was arrested on suspicion of stabbing his 14-year-old son and wife with a fishing knife following a late-night fishing trip argument, police said.
Gary Gomez, 48, took his wife, son and his son's two friends fishing on the Bethany Reservoir around midnight Sunday, said Sgt. J.D. Nelson of the Alameda County Sheriff's Department.
Around 2 a.m., one of the friends told Gomez that he had to go home, which upset the father, Nelson said.
The son became adamant that his friend had to leave, prompting an argument between father and son that escalated into a fist fight, Nelson said.
"The son was getting the better of the dad, so the dad pulls out a fishing knife and stabs the son 11 times," he said.
The boy was stabbed all over his body, but none of the wounds is life-threatening, Nelson said.
Gomez's wife was stabbed in the hand as she tried to break up the fight and "pile the boys into the van," Nelson said. Gomez punctured the tire of the family's van as she was trying to drive away, he said.
Sheriff's deputies were contacted by Gomez's wife and the boys while they drove away in the van, leaving Gomez behind.
Deputies found Gomez at about 4:15 a.m. out near Bruns Road and took him into custody. He was booked on suspicion of attempted murder and child endangerment charges.
Gomez is being held in Santa Rita Jail in Dublin, Calif. An arraignment is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Gale-Schenone Hall of Justice in Pleasanton, Calif.
