Dad inflicts "severe bruising" on 7-year-old son for not doing chore (Sheboygan, Wisconsin)

UNNAMED DAD has been charged with felony child abuse and domestic battery after his 7-year-old son showed up at school with "severe bruising." Seems the little boy didn't do a household chore fast enough to suit Daddy. Also seems that Dad "was involved in a disturbance" with the boy's mom after he beat up the little boy. What the heck does that mean? Sounds like the usual journalistic gobbledy gook for "Dad beat up Mom too." If so, can't we just say so in plain English?

A 37-year-old Sheboygan man was arrested Friday after his 7-year-old son showed up at school with bruises, police said Monday.

The boy told police he suffered the injuries Wednesday when his father punished him for not doing a household chore, said Capt. James Veeser of the Sheboygan Police Department. He said the boy suffered “severe bruising,” but no other details on the injures were provided.

The District Attorney’s Office said he is expected to be charged today.

The ensuing investigation revealed the father had also been involved in a disturbance with his wife after the child was injured, Veeser said. Police will ask that the man be charged with felony child abuse and domestic battery.
