Columbia County man charged with injuring his infant child

PHILMONT – A Philmont man has been arrested and charged with injuring his four-month-old infant son.

State Police at Livingston and Columbia County District Attorney Beth Cozzolino said Martin McCredie, Jr., 40, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and assault in the third degree, both misdemeanors.

State Police were notified the baby had been admitted with suspicious injuries to Albany Medical Center’s Pediatric ICU. An investigation revealed the boy was transported by ambulance from a residence in Philmont to Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson on Tuesday evening for a collapsed lung and was later transferred to Albany Med.

Police determined that McCredie was responsible for the child’s injury.

He was arraigned and remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.

Although an arrest was made, the case continues to be investigated by State Police, Columbia County DA’s Office and Child Protective Services.
