Dad arrested for beating mom, punching 4-week-old son in head; baby in serious condition with fractured skull (Fort Lauderdale, Florida)

Dad MARIO JAMES has been arrested on aggravated child abuse and domestic violence battery charges. While he was punching his wife--who was holding their baby--he delivered at least one blow to the head of his 4-week-old son. The baby is in serious condition with a fractured skull. No word here on Mom's condition.

1-month-old boy severely injured, father arrested

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WSVN) -- A father is behind bars after he allegedly beat his wife and punched his 4-week-old son in the head.

Police arrested Mario James Tuesday morning and charged him with one count of aggravated child abuse as well as one count of domestic violence battery.

Police said James got into an altercation with his wife while she held their infant son at their home, located at 1040 Northeast 15 Avenue. James allegedly punched his wife all over her body, and while she was trying to protect her son, at least one punch hit him in the head.

Paramedics transported the baby to Broward General Medical Center. Officials said the infant suffered a fractured skull and at least three different areas of brain bleeding.
