When we posted on this case before, when the 5-week-old baby was still on life support. Now that she has died, authorities anticipate that more charges will be filed against dad NICHOLAS MCKEE.

Hancock, Md., baby dies; father charged

HANCOCK, Md. (AP) - Washington County authorities say a 5-week-old girl from Hancock has died from injuries allegedly inflicted by her father.

Sheriff's Lt. Mark Knight said Monday he expects additional charges to filed against 22-year-old Nicholas McKee, of Warfordsburg, Pa., now that Bella Appel-McKee has died from injuries consistent with having been shaken.

McKee has been held in the county jail since Friday on charges of child abuse and first-degree assault with bail set at $150,000.

He allegedly assaulted her Jan. 3 while the mother, Jordan Appel, was out. The child died Saturday at Children's Hospital in Washington.

McKee told police the girl had been wheezing, and that he tried to revive her after she went limp and stopped breathing.
