Father-son duo arrested for drugs in Taunton

TAUNTON — .A career criminal and his son, who police say have been operating a drug distribution enterprise, have been arraigned on drug charges in Taunton District Court.

Michael J. Coull, 39, of 35 Davis St., was charged Thursday with possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute marijuana and conspiracy to violate drug laws after police raided his home Wednesday.

Judge Daniel O’Shea ordered the elder Coull held on $10,000 cash bail at Thursday’s hearing, while his 23-year-old son Michael Coull Jr., who faces the same charges, was released after posting $2,000 bail.

Both are due back in court on Sept. 17 for pre-trial hearings.

Members of the Taunton Police Detective Vice Unit, with the help of the Bristol County Sheriff’s Office, on Wednesday set up teams to conduct a surveillance of Coull’s Davis Street home.

State criminal records show that the elder Coull has 72 adult arraignments and three juvenile arraignments.
