CHANDLER - A 3-week-old baby girl was taken to a hospital with multiple fractures and trauma, and police say the baby's 25-year-old father is to blame.

Police say that Brian Mark Hopf, 25, admitted to poking the baby in the eye with a bottle and dropping her on accident.

The 3-week-old remains in critical condition at the hospital, suffering from multiple fractures to the skull, fractured ribs, irreversible brain damage and bodily trauma.

"The 3-week-old infant is severely beaten, and indications of sexual trauma," said Chandler Police Detective Frank Mendoza. "What else can I say? It's just unthinkable that a human being can do this to an innocent infant."

Court documents allege that Hopf admitted to being a meth user.

Hopf is being held at the Maricopa County jail on child abuse charges. Bond is set at half a million dollars.

Dad BRIAN MARK HOPF has been arrested for "poking and dropping" his 3-week-old baby, who has multiple skull fractures, fractured ribs, and other injuries. Dad has already confessed to his actions.
