Dad in custody fight with mom burns three kids to death; already had custody of two of kids from other mother (Ghana)

Very typical scenario. Mother (of the youngest child) driven from home, no doubt because of the father's violence. And notice that the UNNAMED DAD also had possession and/or custody of two children belonging to another mother. How much you want to bet she was subjected to threats and violence as well. And as soon as his control is challenged, he brutally kills them all. All the children burned to death. A typical abuse/control killer, especially the type most likely to demand custody/power over children.

A man has burnt his three children to death at Boadifo, a suburb of Takoradi in the Western region.

The yet-to-be identified assailant allegedly killed the children after a disagreement with his wife Saturday dawn.

The distraught mother of one of the children Sadia Nimatu who confirmed the incident to StarrFMonline.com said after regular disagreements with the suspect, she had left his home for her father’s residence but has been fighting to secure custody of her two-and-half year old girl who was burnt alongside the two other kids; from a different mother.

She noted that the suspect had threatened on numerous occasions to burn the children anytime she made efforts to go for her child.

Her father, Malik, who also spoke to StarrFMonline.com said the suspect burnt the children after he had sent some young men to accompany his daughter to go for the kids Saturday dawn.

He said the matter has been reported to the Market-circle police in Takoradi.

Father Charged In Death of Toddler Abandoned in Hot Car

Posted by Angela Wilson on Apr 23, 2015
UPTOWN

A Phoenix, Arizona father was arrested for manslaughter and child abuse when he abandoned his 2-year-old son in a hot car where the toddler later died.

James Koryor, 41, was taken into custody Tuesday when officials discovered he ran to the liquor store with his toddler, bought a bottle of gin, drank it on the way home and fell asleep inside his house.

The child, identified as Alpha Koryor, was left behind in the car. Detectives found signs that he had desperately struggled to escape the vehicle, which didn’t have any car seats, before dying in 90 degree temperatures.

Koryor was supposed to take his 2-year-old boy, along with his 5-year-old son, to get haircuts. The older son either got out of the vehicle by himself or was taken inside by his father, police spokesman Sgt. Trent Crump said. Family members asked where his little brother was, and he said the child was asleep, Crump said.

The mother was inside the home, studying, before finding her son’s body around 4 p.m., when she went to drive to class. Neighbors said they heard weeping and wailing from the family’s driveway.

Koryor sobbed uncontrollably in court when bond was set at $50,000. Prosecutors requested an increased bail, considering Koryor a flight risk, due to Koryor’s strong ties to the Ivory Coast, Liberia and Ghana.

Dad slashes throat of 3-year-old son and kills him--because mom refused to have a fifth baby (Ghana)

Dad is identified as GIDEON ABOTSI.

Police to arraign man who slashed child’s throat to death

A 37-year-old father who slashed the throat of one of his four children to protest his wife’s refusal to allow them have a fifth child will be arraigned before court later today.

The suspect took a machete in the full glare of his wife and other children, and slit the throat of the three-year-old boy, who is the last of his four children whose name was given as Sitsofe.

The incident happened at a village called Kpeyiborme near Kpeve in the Volta Region.

The Peki Police have only identified the suspect as Gideon Abotsi, aka Jarrah, a farmer.

The Volta Regional Police Commander ACP Peter King Yentumi tells Joy News the suspect will be put before court.

He said the wife’s refusal to give him an additional child was grounded on the fact that the four they already had are not well catered for.

“The man took offence and slashed the throat of the last child of about three years,” ACP Peter King Yentumi said.

Abotsi is currently in the custody of Peki-Avetile Police who are conducting investigations into the murder case.

Meanwhile, the body of the boy, Sitsofe, has been deposited at the Peki Government Hospital morgue.

Dad rapes, impregnates 12-year-old daughter; sentenced to just one year in prison (Ghana)

I'm thinking UNNAMED DAD is a single father, as there is absolutely no mention of a mother in the home. But her disappearance is unexplained, which is typical. Should always raise a red flag in cases like this as sexual predators are remarkably adept at getting rid of any "gatekeeper" that keeps them from getting ready access to their chosen victim.

Notice how the authorities went out of their way to ignore the charges until the daughter's persistence finally got him one freaking year in jail--a slap in the wrist for the years of abuse she was subjected to. But depressingly common.

http://www.spyghana.com/my-fathers-repeated-rapes-finally-got-me-pregnant/

My father’s repeated rapes finally got me pregnant

Crime July 8, 2014- Too many families possess the kinds of deep, dark secrets that no one ever talks about. Then, when those secrets are revealed, and children find out they’ve been lied to for a lifetime, it’s that much more hurtful.

Tiara Stevens loves her son a great deal, but found herself asking the kind of question that no mother should ever be forced to ask herself about the child she loves so much: Is he my brother or my son?

According to paternity tests, it turns out that he is both. Tiara says that when she was 12-years old, her father got her pregnant. She even says that she didn’t know that her father was making a baby inside her when the incidents took place, because she was too young and naive to know what was happening to her body.

“He never told me what he was doing,” said Stevens, according to WIS-TV. “It was just late at night. He would come in, take my clothes off, and he would have sex. And he would leave and he would say, ‘You better not stay up all night,’ and I would go in the bathroom and I would cry.

The next night he may not do it, but the next night, he would repeat the same thing.”

The 27-year old woman says that she didn’t know for months that she was carrying her own father’s baby. Then, she went into labour and had to be taken to the hospital. “The only place I went was to the hospital,” said Stevens. “Never went to any doctors appointments or anything. Only thing I remember is passing out at school. I really didn’t get big or nothing.”

In an even more disgusting turn of events, she says that it was her father who realized that the little girl was pregnant. How did he find out? He realized it when he was on top of her, trying to enter her womb.

“He had done what he usually did to me and the baby kicked and whenever he did, he said, ‘Get up, hold your shirt up. You’re pregnant,’” said Stevens.

The child is now a teenager and because in-breeding is disruptive to the genetic process, the boy is both blind and an albino. But despite these challenges, Tiara says that her son is a smart child.

“He loves computers,” said Stevens. “So that’s what he’s working on at school. He’s in 9th grade now. He’s a freshman.”

If you hear about abuse happening in your family or someone else’s, do not remain silent about it. Call the authorities immediately, for you might save someone’s life in the process.

Getting Justice

After waiting for over a decade for justice to be served, Stevens was upset to learn that Montgomery only received a year in prison for the crime. “It was a slap in my face,” she said. Stevens gave birth to a son/brother who is albino and blind because of the inner-mixing of the same genes. Throughout the pregnancy, Stevens was unaware that she was with child until the day before he was born, after she went into labor at school. “To wait 14 years and all a person gets is 1 year? A pat on the back telling them it’s okay to m-lest your daughter, impregnate her, and for her to have a child, a blind child? It’s ok?”

Montgomery was indicted in 2000 after a DNA test confirmed that he was the father of his grandson. He bonded out of custody, and continued to live in the same small town as his daughter and their child.

After continuous prodding from Stevens, and a fire at the 6th Circuit Solicitor’s Office (which destroyed Montgomery’s court documents), authorities finally went forward with a trial— 12 years later. “We didn’t used to have a computerized system up here,” said solicitor Doug Barfield, who noted that they department “did not realize” that they had stalled on the case.

Stevens told authorities that her son was conceived after she was attacked by her father in the mobile home that they shared, back in 1999, but she was sexually assaulted by him on other occasions.

Now an advocate for victim’s right, Stevens has forgiven her father but grapples with what

Police hunt for dad who raped 13-year-old daughter; father was separated from girl's mother (Ghana)

This is the SECOND daughter this piece of sh** has raped, so it's truly an outrage that he was allowed any access to any of his children after the mother left him. Who allowed that, or at least failed to prevent it? No word.

This UNNAMED DAD's brutality is only hinted at in the girl's physical and mental injuries.

Dad strips Mom of custody, gives away daughter to female relative, then returns when girl is 17 and rapes her (Ghana)

This is not an uncommon pattern. A sexually/physically abusive father who is intent on stripping the mother of custody so he can punish mom and maintain total control over the child victim. Notice that Dad JONATHAN SAMUEL OTTO HUGHES totally skipped out on the actual work of raising the child. Nah, he handed over the child to his (enabling?) sister who participated in this sick charade of keeping this girl from her mother. And then when he decided he was ready, he moved in to take possession of the girl so he could rape her.

The accused inquired from the daughter whether she was a virgin, and she answered in the affirmative.

Yahaya confronted the victim’s father about the accusation leveled against him, but he vehemently denied it.

Later, the victim left the father’s house and sought refuge at Yahaya’s home, but Hughes went to his house and threatened Yahaya with two eggs and a bottle of locally manufactured gin popularly called ‘Akpeteshie’, to release the daughter to him or else he would curse him.

The father, who is unidentified, is said to have held the little girl over boiling water to cure her of candidyasis.

But she fell into the hot water and sustained severe injuries. The young girl is currently at the 37 Military Hospital where she is receiving treatment. Doctors attending to the girl say she is responding to treatment.

Women’s rights group, WILDAF, which is assisting the mother of the girl to seek treatment, has condemned the father’s action. Programme Coordinator Bernice Sam says his act constitutes abuse and negligence, for which he must be arrested.

Dad gets 15 years for severely beating 3-year-old son for bedwetting (Ghana)

Notice that dad CHARLES OBENG, who was not married to the boy's mother, had just gained temporary custody after the mom had suffered an illness and lost her job. Almost immediately, he had severely beaten the boy.

Man Brutalizes Son For Bedwetting

Date: 29-Sep-2012

A 27-year-old labourer is to languish in jail, in hard labour, for 15 years for brutalizing his three-year-old son.

The boy’s crime? He has been bedwetting and his father claimed he wanted to instill discipline in him by the use of the rod.

A Kumasi circuit court, presided over by Mr. Emmanuel Amo-Yartey, heard that Charles Obeng subjected his son to severe beating at the least provocation.

At the court hearing, the little boy was showed with cuts all over his body and he could neither sit nor lie

Obeng, who pleaded guilty to the charge of causing harm, was convicted on his own plea.

Briefing the court, Chief Inspector Comfort Baffour-Kyei said the child’s mother was an unemployed resident at Obuasi Mile 9, while Obeng was resident at Atimatim junction, a suburb of Kumasi.

She said since the child was born, the mother has been the sole provider because the father failed to cater for him. However, the mother lost her job after a short ailment.

According to the prosecution, when the mother asked Obeng for assistance, he demanded that she brought the child to him so that he catered for him.

Chief Inspector Baffour explained that the mother therefore, brought the child to Obeng and on September 23, she called to find out how he was faring and was told by the father that he was sick.

The mother, therefore, came down to Atimatim and “found out that the victim had bruises all over his body and the face was swollen.

“The victim mentioned the accused person’s name as the one who assaulted him, “the prosecutor told the court.

A report was made to the police and Obeng was later arrested and he admitted the offence during investigation. He was later charged with the offence.

Custodial dad arrested for attempted incest with daughter (Sekondi, Ghana)

Notice that that dad EDWARD KENNETH BAIDOO is custodial, and that the daughter and her half sister lived with him. Just as we see in the west, there is no explanation as to why the girls live with molester daddy, or why the daughter he assaulted and attempted to rape is separated from her mother in Nigeria.

Deadbeat dad rapes 16-year-old daughter, blames her mom for "starving him of sex" (Brofoyeduru, Ghana)

Dads like TIMOTHY KORANKYE are the same the world over. Same bullsh** excuses. Notice this piece of crap threatened to kill the daughter if she told. Extremely typical.

The Central Regional Police Command has arrested a 39-year-old man for defiling his own daughter.

The suspect, Timothy Korankye, unemployed, was alleged to have had sex with his 16-year-old daughter while she was fast asleep in an adjourning room, impregnating her in the process.

His arrest followed his refusal to provide money for the termination of the pregnancy, which is in its fifth month.

The incident, which occurred at Brofoyeduru, a suburb of Cape Coast, according to the Regional Co-ordinator of the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU), Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) George Appiah-Takyi, was reported to the unit by the suspects’s wife and mother of the victim, known only as Maame Esi.

DSP Appiah-Takyi said the young girl, who has since dropped out of school, told the police that her father had threatened to kill her should she ever reveal the act to anyone.

He told the Daily Graphic that Korankye forcibly slept with the victim somewhere in June, while the wife, who is a cleaner, had gone to work very early at dawn, but due to the death threats, she failed to notify anybody even after she fled to her mother’s friend in the morning of the incident. “It was until the pregnancy was detected by her mother that the victim revealed her ordeal.

Korankye, he said, admitted committing the offence in his caution statement and told the police that his wife had starved him of sex for some time now. ”I slept with my daughter out of desperation,” he explained.

Another dad kills son (Dadwene, Ghana)

This murder of this 2-year-old boy, "allegedly" by dad FRANCIS ASAMOAH, took place in Ghana. But it really could have taken place anywhere. Notice that we still have the same pattern of coercive control when it comes to the child--the little boy was "forcibly taken from his mother by his father" before the murder. And even though the father was not married to the mother, he was still making big impassioned claims about how he was "being denied the opportunity to be with his son." Even though he had never made any formal commitment to either one of them. And then once Dad got possession, the little boy was murdered in cold blood. We have the fathers rights movement to thank for this sense of child entitlement without love, compassion, or personal responsibility.

Another Dad Kills Son

Crime & Punishment 55 minutes ago with compassion. - By: Kyei-Afrifa Ma Germany

A 26-YEAR-OLD steel bender, Francis Asamoah, who allegedly killed his son in cold blood, has appeared in court charged with murder.

Two-year-old Bismark Adjei was forcibly taken away from his mother by his father, who later allegedly murdered him for unknown reasons.

The incident, which has shocked the entire farming community of Dadwene, took place around 4pm on December 5, 2010.

Asamoah has since been remanded into custody and he is due to re-appear at an Obuasi Circuit Court on December 22, 2010.

Yaw Obeng Asubonteng, the police prosecutor, told the court presided over by Gilbert Ayisi Addo that the complainant, Elizabeth Akologo, who is a hairdresser and resident of Kyekyewere, was in a conjugal relationship with the accused person, Francis Asamoah.

Elizabeth and Francis are the parents of the deceased, who until his death, stayed with the mother at Kyekyewere.

On December 5 at about 5:30am, the complainant and the accused travelled together to Bekwai to visit a friend of theirs and returned to Dadwene at 1:30pm on the same day.

DSP Asubonteng said while the couple was on its way back to Dadwene, the complainant received a telephone call from her nephew, Sylvester Akologo, indicating his intention to go out, and therefore wanted to send the deceased to her since there was nobody at home to take care of the boy.

The prosecutor said the deceased was handed over to his parents at the accused person's house at Dadwene, but after the boy had been fed, the complainant directed Sylvester to send Bismark back to their home at Kyekyewere.

While Sylvester and the deceased were on their way back home, the accused suddenly emerged and took the deceased from him, claiming that he, as the father of the child, had been denied the opportunity to be with son.

Upon meeting at Kyekyewere, Sylvester informed the complainant about what happened, and around 4 pm on the same day, one Atta, a friend of the accused, called to inform the complainant that her son had fallen sick.

Not long after the complainant had boarded a vehicle to trace the son, Elizabeth received a second call on her cell phone from one Owusu that the boy had died while being taken to the hospital.

Elizabeth suspected foul play in the sudden death of Bismark Adjei and therefore made a report to the police at Obuasi the following day as the medical officer at the Ridge Hospital at Obuasi recommended a post-mortem examination.

The accused was later arrested to help the police to conduct investigations into the boy's death.

Dad beheads 3-year-old son for "ritual" (Sea, Ghana)

Police say that dad MENSAH ADUKATSE decapitated his 3-year-old son for some sort of "ritual." Also notice that the father had had nothing to do with the child until recently. And yet, the mother allowed him to go off and "play" with the child at his request. Not that I'm blaming the mother--not at all. The problem is that mothers have been brainwashed by fatherhood ideology--the belief that even a fly-by-night sperm donor is some Essential Father with a Sacred Role to play in a child's life. Nonsense. This sicko idiot wasn't even married to this woman. Had never shown any commitment to her or interest in her child in any way. Unfortunately, under the influence of fatherhood ideology, the natural scepticism/protective instinctive that any mammalian mother would have felt when her cub was around a strange male was turned off, no longer operable. But even when human mothers do try to protect their "cubs," they're accused of being paranoid or alienating. So you can't win....

Is it a coincidence that murders by biological fathers appear to be going up as a result?

Father beheads son for juju
Posted by admin on Dec 7th, 2010

Residents of Sea, near Assin Gangan in the Assin Foso District of the Central Region last Saturday received the shock of their lives when a 24-year-old man, Mensah Adukatse, reportedly decapitated his three-year-old son, Kojo Adukatse, in a nearby bush under strange circumstances.

A source at the village told Daily Guide that they suspected Mensah killed Kojo for rituals as a herbalist in the village raised the alarm when the suspect told him that he had cut off the head of the boy.

Speaking to Daily Guide yesterday, the Assin Foso District Police Commander, Emmanuel Basintale said on Saturday some people from the village brought Mensah to his office, claiming that he had beheaded his son and wanted to run away.

Upon a search of the area, the body was found in the bush with the head cut off.

ASP Basintale stated that the lifeless body of Kojo had since been deposited at the St Francis Hospital at Assin Foso for autopsy.

Police investigations showed that the suspect impregnated one Adjoa Cynthia some years ago and left the village since he was not ready to take care of the child.

Mensah was not seen in the area for a very long time until about three days ago when he resurfaced.

According to Mr. Basintale, immediately the suspect got into town, he went to Cynthia’s house to plead for forgiveness and later played with the boy.

Mensah returned on Friday and Saturday and asked the family to let him take his son for a walk but never brought the boy back. Upon interrogation, the suspect declined to give any tangible explanation for the whereabouts of the missing boy which made the family suspect foul play and reported the matter to the police.

Mensah will be arraigned before court on Monday.

Incidents of fathers killing their biological children are gaining ground in recent times, with two cases being reported in the Ashanti Region and the Volta region.

In the Volta region incident, an I8-year-old father on Monday, November 22, allegedly strangled his one-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Ruth Adome to death at Lowcost, a suburb of Dzodze in the middle of the night as she lay by her 19-year-old mother.

The teenage father, Dennis Dzagba, a student of the Keta Business College (KETABUSCO), is said to have killed the baby because he claimed his mates at school had been teasing him that he was too young to have a child.

In the Ashanti region, a 25-year-old teacher, Raymond Messisa, allegedly murdered his 2-year-old son, Kelvin Messisa, by breaking his neck, both hands and legs before dumping the lifeless body into a toilet.

Raymond was remanded by a circuit court at Nkawie into prison custody, after allegedly killing the innocent boy at Kunsu near Mankraso in the Ahafo Ano South District of the Ashanti region.

Raymond’s father, Emmanuel Amaglar, was apprehended by the police for conspiracy.

Dad imprisoned for murdering 2-year-old son (Nkawie, Ghana)

I choose not to reproduce photos in this blog for many reasons--partly because I want to report on crime, not sensationalize it. If you choose to go to the original source, be warned: the photo referenced below is a horror. Thank goodness dad RAYMOND MESSISA has finally been remanded into prison custody for the especially brutal murder of his 2-year-old son.

Date: 20-Oct-2010

It has now come to light that the 25-year-old teacher who allegedly murdered his 2-year-old son broke his neck, both hands and legs before dumping the lifeless body into a toilet.

A circuit court at Nkawie has remanded into prison custody, Raymond Messisa, who allegedly killed the innocent boy, Kelvin Messisa at Kunsu near Mankraso in the Ahafo Ano South District of the Ashanti region.

The court, presided over by Noble Nkrumah, remanded the suspect to re-appear on Monday, October 25, 2010. He also incarcerated the alleged killer’s father, Emmanuel Amaglar, who was apprehended by the police in the company of the accused person.

Briefing the court, the prosecutor, Inspector Mark Addo of the Mankranso District Police Command, said the accused attended St. Francis Teacher Training College at Hohoe in the Volta region.

The prosecutor noted that in the course of his three-year professional teaching course, Raymond Messisa had an amorous relationship with one Janet Abigi, a 25-year-old unemployed woman, through which they gave birth to the deceased.

The accused never took care of Janet and her son till he completed school and was posted to Kunsu to teach at the Kunsu Wiaso D/C Primary School. The prosecutor told the court that Janet, who hails from Lipke in the Volta region, pestered the accused with several phone calls that she wanted Kelvin to stay with him so that he could take care of his education.

Inspector Addo narrated that the accused never responded positively to the calls of the bereaved mother until he (the accused) called her on Wednesday and gave her directions to his new place so that she could bring his son to him

Determined to send her child to the father, Janet travelled to Kunsu. Upon arrival, the accused, who was waiting at the bus terminal, immediately took Janet and the child home.On Friday, the accused left home in the morning for school and came back around 4:00 pm to meet Janet, who complained of hunger and therefore gave her a tuber of yam and stew to prepare for meal. When Janet finished preparing the meal, she invited the accused to join her but he refused with the excuse that he was not hungry and therefore went out again and came back around 10:00 pm.When the accused returned home, Janet was sleeping in the sofa with her child but the accused woke her up, insisting that he wanted to sleep with the deceased on the bed.

Not sensing danger, the prosecutor said Janet heeded the demand of the accused and allowed him to take the deceased onto the bed whilst she continued to sleep in the sofa till it was about 5:00 am on Saturday when she realized to her utter surprise that the deceased was nowhere to be found in the room.

When she woke up and asked the whereabouts of her son, Raymond told her that he saw the child opening the gate and moving out.

When Janet started shouting at the accused because she did not understand what he was telling her, the 25-year-old teacher held her neck and threatened to kill her if she continued her action.

Noticing that something was amiss, Janet struggled out of the room and ran to the Mankraso District Police station to lodge a complaint, after which the police embarked on an intensive search.

As Janet and a team of police personnel were heading towards the home of the accused as part of the investigations, they saw the accused and his father standing by the roadside looking for a car.

Upon noticing the accused, Janet drew the attention of the police to him.The police then approached them and asked where they were heading to at that early time of the day. After a brief interrogation, the police realized that the accused had knowledge of the disappearance of the deceased and therefore apprehended him for further questioning.

As the police were getting ready to escort Raymond and his father to the station, they had information that the body of a baby had been found in a toilet by the roadside. When the police led a team to the scene and the body of the baby was retrieved, Janet, the accused and his father identified the deceased as their relative who disappeared.

According to him, when the body of the two-year-old baby was recovered from the toilet, both hands and legs had been broken as well as his neck, an indication that his killer rendered him helpless before killing him.

In his caution statement to the police, the accused admitted to committing the crime but noted that he decided to do so because Janet was pestering him with the responsibility of taking care of the child, a development which was not allowing him to study.

The prosecutor explained that the father of the accused was arrested and arraigned because the father was charged with the offence of aiding and abetting. After attentively listening to the submission of the prosecutor, the presiding judge, who appeared furious, ruled that the accused and his father be remanded in prison custody and re-appear on October 25, 2010.

Custodial dad beats, "roasts" 9-year-old son for "stealing" a piece of fruit (Sowutuom, Ghana)

The cultural details may differ, but the basics of the story are essentially the same whether you're in Ghana or Georgia.

A custodial dad, WOFA YAW BANAHENE, takes the child away from his mother, only to abuse and mistreat him. I think we're pretty safe in assuming he also abused the mother, and that taking her child was just another way to hurt her.

Now Dad is wanted for beating his 9-year-old son and then laying him on a coal pot with fire, for "stealing" a mango. Yes, he really wanted custody so he could be a loving daddy, didn't he?

Man roasts son

Last Updated: Wednesday, 19 May 2010, 14:47 GMT

The Sowutuom Police is looking for a 36-year-old man who allegedly laid his nine-year-old son on a coal pot with fire, for stealing a mango.

The man, whose name was given as Wofa Yaw Banahene, a labourer, has since the incidence which happened on May 2, 2010, not returned to the said house after the matter was reported to the police.

According to a source, the boy, Jeff Banahene, took the mango which belonged to his step-mother without her permission.

The source said the step-mother, a petty trader at the Agbogbloshie Market, who was not happy about what the boy did, reported the matter to the father when he arrived from work.

The source said the father, upon hearing the news, beat up the child mercilessly and laid the child on a coal pot with fire which the step-mother had used to prepare their evening meal.

The source said Wofa Banahene, after taking custody of the child from his mother, always maltreated the boy at the least provocation.

The source maintained that a Good Samaritan in the area however took the child to a nearby clinic for medical attention whiles a report was also lodged at the Sowutuom Police Station.

A source at the Sowutoum Police Station who confirmed the story said Wofa Yaw Banahene, since the act, has not been seen.

"We are doing our best to fish him out and we would appeal to the police to help us get him to face the law," the source added.

A 32-year-old man who allegedly killed his one year-old baby boy because his wife has left him, has been arrested by the police.

James Kofi Mensah, also known as Quarcoo, a farmer, was said to have strangled the little boy at Basingere, in Bibiani, after which he fled the cottage, last Saturday.

He was however arrested at his hide-out the following day.

Kofi Mensah has been charged with murder and would soon appear in court, according to Bibiani District Police Commander, Samson Anane-Appiah. He told the Times that Kofi Mensah had been married to Comfort Abukari, also known as Akua Atomee, 27, a trader and farmer, for 10-years and they had two children.

Mr Anane-Appiah said a misunderstanding ensued between them and the woman decided to end the marriage.

He said although the marriage had not been formally dissolved Akua left her husband and went to her own house.

On Saturday, July 11, Akua went to the farm leaving the children with a neighbour but because their house was close to the husband’s house, the boy was said to have crawled to the father’s place at about 2 pm.

According to the police, Kofi Mensah took the boy into his room and strangled him to death after which he left him outside and fled the cottage.

Mr Anane-Appiah said on her retrun from the farm Akua was informed that her son was seen with his father.

When she went to her husband’s house Mensah was nowhere to be found but the body of the boy was found behind the house.

Incestuous Father Jailed Five Years

The man who fathered five children with his own daughter, Anthony Roland Sampson Bleworda, has been sentenced to five years’ imprisonment for incest.

But the President of the Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Ms Ursla Owusu, says the five-year sentence is too lenient to serve as a deterrent to others.

Reacting to the sentence on various radio programmes later, Ms Owusu suggested that the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) should appeal against the sentence.

Other legal opinions, however, were that the sentence was within the three to 25 years prescribed by the law of the country for such culprits.

The 28-year-old victim in the case is currently being catered for by a non-governmental organisation, while the two daughters she had with her father are being kept in a shelter in Accra.

The other three children (all males) are deceased. The Accra Circuit Court, presided over by Mr Justice C. A. Wilson, found Bleworda guilty on the incestuous charges preferred against him by the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service.

The Daily Graphic in its September 30, 2008 edition published the bizarre story of Bleworda, a self-proclaimed prophet of the ‘I am-I am’ Nazareth Church, who allegedly fathered five children with his own daughter.

Three of the five children, who were all males, died under mysterious circumstances and were buried secretly after the suspect, Bleworda, 52, had performed some occultic rituals.

The daughter “wife” was hospitalised for treatment and counselling while their two female children were sent to a shelter for rehabilitation.

The facts of the case were that neighbours of Bleworda saw the “couple” naked in their yard with the man running after the woman.

The Public Affairs Officer of DOVVSU, Chief Inspector Irene Oppong, said the couple later dragged their two little daughters into their room and locked themselves inside.

She said some of the onlookers, sensing danger that something could be happening to the family, broke into the room and rescued the two children and their mother to the premises of Christ Miracle Power Mission International at New Ashongman, on suspecting that the woman was mentally disturbed.

According to Chief Inspector Oppong, some of the neighbours later handed over the suspect to the police for investigation.
She said the woman, on September 26, 2008, openly confessed to being the biological daughter of Bleworda.

Chief Inspector Oppong said investigations had revealed that the suspect, an ex-soldier, left Ghana in 1986 for Germany at a time the daughter was only six years old.

According to her, the victim was staying with her aunt at Teshie Camp and joined her father for about a month before he (suspect) returned to Germany again.

Chief Inspector Oppong said the suspect developed interest in his daughter on seeing her and often allegedly laced drinks and food with Indian hemp for her.

She said the suspect would then sexually abuse the victim, something which she said took place for the one-month duration that she stayed with her father.

Upon returning to her aunt, she said, it was detected that the victim was pregnant but she failed to disclose the person responsible for the pregnancy.

Chief Inspector Oppong said the suspect returned from Germany the second time and took custody of the daughter to Brekuso in the Eastern Region.

She explained that on his first return in 2002, the suspect was staying at Taifa Burkina before relocating to Brekuso and finally to Kwabenya.

Chief Inspector Oppong said the victim told investigators that she confessed to her mother about what had been going on between her and her father after reading from the Bible that it was a sin for one to sleep with his or her parents or siblings.
