Dad indicted in shooting death of adopted 13-year-old son (Berkeley Springs, West Virginia)

So let's try to get this straight. Daddy WILLIAM ALLAN BUTLER was teaching his son how to shoot a gun. He hears a shot, and "just knew" that the boy was trying to shoot him, so Daddy shot and killed him.

So, um, why would this boy want to kill you? And how is it that you "just knew" he wanted to kill you?

Can't help but wonder if this is a single father....

INVISIBLE MOTHER ALERT.

BERKELEY SPRINGS — A Morgan County man accused of fatally shooting his 13-year-old son has been indicted on a murder charge.

A grand jury charged William Allan Butler, 73, of Fulton Road this week with murder and child neglect resulting in death.

Police say Butler's adopted son, Andrew Arthur Butler, was fatally shot on June 18 in the family's backyard.

According to court documents, William Butler told investigators he was showing his son how to shoot and was standing about 5 feet from the boy when he heard a gunshot. Butler said he "just knew" his son was shooting at him, so he turned and fired back.

Butler is being held without bond at the Eastern Regional Jail.
