Dad charged with aggravated child abuse against 4-month-old daughter (Nashville, Tennessee)

Sounds like another case where Daddy got "frustrated" and beat the baby. Not clear that Mom was even in the home at the time, as she is not charged.

The dad is JAMES TYLER COBBLE.

James Tyler Cobble, 24, of Templeton Street was charged with aggravated child abuse and child abuse Wednesday afternoon, detective Carol Jean of the Shelbyville Police Department said.

Cobble gave "conflicting information" during questioning and was charged after detectives consulted District Attorney Chuck Crawford's office, Jean said.

"She is in stable condition at Vanderbilt Medical Center and has been moved out of intensive care," Jean said. "The doctors aren't sure what, if any, long-term effects will occur."

The girl was taken to VMC on Tuesday after medical personnel and police were called to the Cobble home due to a "baby having trouble breathing," a report filed at the time by officer Cody King said.

Cobble told King he had given the baby a bath on Friday and placed her on a bed to check on three other children in the home "fighting in the other room.

"He said that while he was in the other room she had fallen off the bed onto her forehead causing a bruise," King said after talking to Cobble and the baby's mother, who has not been charged. "They advised that the baby had been acting fine until (Tuesday) when she started having trouble breathing. They performed CPR and called 911."

Paramedics who answered the call told police there was "a lot of bruising on the baby."

An emergency room doctor at Heritage Medical Center told King "the bruising was not consistent with a baby falling off the bed."

The baby had a fractured skull and bruising on her forehead, down both sides of her abdomen, under her left leg and on the back of her head, police were told.

She was taken to VMC by ambulance Tuesday after Vanderbilt's LifeFlight helicopter was unable to fly due to heavy rain in the area, police said.

Cobble is being held on $110,000 bond.
