Babysitting dad arrested after 8-month-old daughter dies (Phoenix, Arizona)

This is a very typical abuser daddy story. Mom was working, daddy was "caretaking." Daddy couldn't stand the crying. Daddy kills the baby.

This time the daddy is EDWARD FUENTES.

PHOENIX - Police have arrested a Phoenix man for child abuse after doctors found his daughter died as a result of shaking.

Police say Edward Fuentes, 19, shook his 8-month-old daughter twice because she wouldn't stop crying. The baby's mother was at work at the time.

After the infant was shaken in May 2010, her head fell back and she went unconscious, according to documents. Hospital staff determined she had two bilateral hematomas, one older and the other more acute.

The baby had retinal hemorrhaging in her right eye and there was a bruise on the left side of the infant's forehead. Her condition deteriorated, and she was pronounced dead in early June.

Doctors at Phoenix Children's Hospital say her injuries were consistent with being shaken.

Fuentes failed a polygraph test. He then admitted to detectives that the infant was crying, so he shook her, placed her back in her car seat, and when she continued to cry, he shook her again, documents allege.

Earlier that year, Child Protective Services instructed that Fuentes not have any contact with his daughter due to his past criminal involvement and poor living conditions.

Fuentes was charged with one count of child abuse.
