Custodial dad arrested for child sex abuse, neglect (Logan County, Oklahoma)

Custodial dad BRIAN MONTGOMERY has been arrested on child sexual abuse and neglect charges. Notice that the sheriff deputies say that "the children's mother hasn't been around for years." But they don't cite their source of information. It is certainly possible that Mom's just doin' her own thang. But whenever an abusive father gains custody, the authorities should always take another look. The chances are very high that he was also abusive to the children's mother. If she has truly "disappeared," it might be useful to find out if she's really alive somewhere. Or whether she was out-manoevered in court and forcefully blocked from participation in her children's lives.

LOGAN COUNTY, Okla. -- Logan County authorities arrested 39-year-old Brian Montgomery on 13 counts of child sexual abuse and neglect. Deputies say Montgomery's daughter told her middle school counselor last month that her father, Brian Montgomery, was molesting her.

The school counselor contacted authorities and deputies immediately went to the school to speak with Montgomery and his children.

Chief Deputy Rob Groseclose said, "The role of the school counselor is invaluable. They're a great source of information for us and the kids to have someone to talk to. It's very important."

The girl's brother also complained of physical abuse.

Authorities are still investigating how long it went on.

The children remain in protective custody.

Deputies say the children's mother hasn't been around for years.

Montgomery was arraigned Tuesday afternoon.

He has a $260,000 bond.
