Children united with mom after found living in squalor with custodial dad (East Naples, Florida)

So if dad MICHAEL PHILIPPE was so damn dysfunctional, how and why did he get custody? Who gave it to him? As is often the case in Florida, there is a lot of back story that's not being told. And I'm not surprised in the slightest that Daddy shut of contact with the mom. This is typical of abusers. Hopefully, these children are now safe and well cared for.

Again, we see the truth in matters of fathers rights. Fathers have no trouble getting custody, no matter how abusive and neglectful they are.

This kind of case is very personal for me, because these are the kinds of conditions my daughter was enduring with her father before I finally regained custody.

Two children are back with their mother after they were found unsupervised and living in squalor in their father's East Naples home.

Michael Philippe was charged Saturday with child neglect after deputies found the children, ages 9 and 7.

Officers said the home was in disarray, with a leaking hot water heater, mounds of dirty clothes and a broken door. The children said no one watches them during the week and that they prepare their meals in the microwave.

They also said their father is not home when they go to bed at night.

The Department of Children and Families located the children's mother in Naples. She told authorities she had not seen them in two months.
