At rape trial, dad blames teenage daughter for "seducing" him (Cambridgeshire, England, United Kingdom)

So in 2010, are we supposed to be glad that a shrink is willing to testify during a rape trial that it is "unlikely" that a teenage girl "seduced" her father?

Of course, with all the fathers rights-inspired Freudian revisionist crap that's been revived these days, maybe we should be.

In reality, it is horrifying that a jury during a rape trial even needs to be told this in 2010. We shouldn't even allow the defense to introduce these arguments--that's how ridiculous they are. If Daddy had argued that a space alien had impersonated him, and that the space alien had sexually abused the girl after coming through the ceiling of their home, would the prosecution even respond? Would the prosecution bring in paranormal investigators or "experts" to counter this testimony? Or would this be dismissed as delusional garbage, as not even worthy of a response?

The entirely discredited notion that teenage girls "seduce" their fathers is at the same level of crap, and we need to stop legitimizing this as an"argument" that's even worthy of rebuttal.

Girl unlikely to have seduced dad, court told
Paul Holland

A father being seduced by his daughter against his will is “unlikely” and “entirely aberrant”, a top psychologist told a jury.

The news came in the trial of a Cambridgeshire man who is charged with three counts of rape, one of sexual activity with a child and perverting the course of justice.

His 18-year-old daughter says he forced her to have sex so that she would have a baby, as his new partner was barren after a hysterectomy.

However, he denies the charges and claims his daughter came on to him.

Consultant forensic psychologist Janet Cutler said she had interviewed the woman, who was 16 at the time of the alleged offences.

The father’s defence barrister, John Kirkpatrick, said to Ms Cutler: “If a father has advances made on him by his daughter where she seduces him – that is consent by her but possibly not by him. In that case he would not be consenting.”

But Ms Cutler replied: “I struggle to think of a scenario where his daughter would be able to seduce him. It does not seem to be psychologically likely for that to happen.

"It would be an entirely aberrant situation within a normal family.”

She also told the jury that in a three to four-hour interview the girl had told her: “Dad asked me to have sex with him because he knew I had ovaries.”

The jury was also told the excuse that the young woman came onto him, and that sex was a choice made by the girl, was “a rationale” she had heard being used by sex offenders for their behaviour.

The 46-year-old man has admitted one sexual offence charge but pleaded not guilty to the other counts.

The jury has already heard his former girlfriend tell how he lost interest in her when she had her hysterectomy.

She told the court on Wednesday: “The next minute, his daughter was pregnant.”

The trial continues.
