Dad investigated in death of 6-month-old daughter (Glen Ellyn, Illinois)

UNNAMED DAD is being investigated in the death of his 6-month-old daughter after authorities found her "unresponsive." She died after 8 days in the hospital. It is specifically noted that Dad is being investigated, and that he has had no prior contact with DFS. There is no mention of a mother in this home at all. So just how did this baby come into the world? A stork brought her?

INVISIBLE MOTHER ALERT.

(GLEN ELLYN) State and local authorities are investigating the death of a 6-month-old Glen Ellyn girl who died Wednesday after spending nearly eight days in the hospital.

Luz Galicia of 325 Marston Ave. in Glen Ellyn was pronounced dead at 12:55 p.m. Wednesday at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office said.

An autopsy Friday was inconclusive, with results pending a police investigation, the medical examiner’s office said.

Police responded to the home about 8 a.m. on Oct. 13 after a 911 call indicated the baby wasn’t breathing, Glen Ellyn Deputy Police Chief Bill Holmer said. The child was found unresponsive and taken by paramedics to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove. She was later transferred to Loyola.

There were no obvious signs of injury to the child, Holmer said.

The Illinois Dept. of Children and Family Services, however, is investigating allegations of neglect against Luz’s father, spokesman Kendall Marlowe said. The agency has had no prior contact with the father.

On Friday, Holmer said although police had conducted interviews regarding the case, there has been nothing in the investigation that would point to neglect.
