Travelers Rest dad charged with killing 1-year-old
GREENVILLE, S.C. -- A father in Travelers Rest has been charged with homicide by child abuse in the suffocation death of his 1-year-old daughter.

Greenville County authorities say Nevaeh Sprouse was taken to the hospital last month after her mother said she choked while drinking a glass of tea. The child died two days later.

But an arrest warrant says 26-year-old James Allen Johnson gave investigators a written statement saying he suffocated the girl.

Authorities say an autopsy found bruises and other signs of abuse and matched information Johnson told investigators.

Johnson is being held without bond in the Greenville County jail. It wasn't immediately clear if he had an attorney.

  1. James "Parker" Johnson is not the dad of little Nevaeha Sprouse. They have updated this story.

And I hear the mother, Ann Sprouse, has been asked to take a polygraph test. Children don't choke on iced tea. And there was signs of previous abuse. The mother had only been with Parker for a few weeks. All of his friends are saying that Parker could never hurt a little child. Ann has had maybe 10 or so boyfriends in the past year or so, and has moved from place to place I don't know how many times.

Somebody needs to do a DNA, because as far as I know, the person she says is the father could very well not be the father. And he is having to go through this hell and bury his little daughter. What if he found out the little girl wasn't even his? At least someone is grieving for this little girl.

Thanks for posting this story on your blog. Maybe there will be justice for Little Nevaeha one day, if enough people start becoming outraged over child abuse and neglect, and in this instance, even death. When are people going to wake up and realize that it is happening right under their own noses?
