Dad of murdered kids arrested; he threw them in a reservoir (Chandrapur, India)

Dad SHALIK WARHADE has been arrested for murdering his two children by throwing them into the Chargoan Dam (reservoir). Dad has allegedly confessed. His excuse: he was mad at his wife because it appears she stopped him from "meeting the kids"--it now looks like she had solid reason, yes?

CHANDRAPUR: Shegaon police on Friday finally nabbed the man accused of murdering his two kids at Chargaon dam in Warora tehsil. The bodies of three-year-old Mansi and one and a half year old Chetan were fished out on late Wednesday night. Cops claimed that accused Shalik Warhade has confessed to the crime.

A pall of gloom descended on Khambada after the bodies of the tiny tots were found. Their mother Sapna was inconsolable. Investigations revealed that Warhade had a heated argument with his angry wife before he left with the two kids. Later, he threw the kids into the dam, said the police.

The accused was hiding in village Neri at an acquaintance's residence. People in the neighbourhood got suspicious of his prolonged stay and quizzed him about his identity. Sensing trouble, Warhade panicked and tried to flee, but was caught by a mob and handed over to the police.

During investigation, Warhade spilled the beans. He said that after an altercation with his wife, who stopped him from meeting the kids, he snatched them and took them to Warora. At acquaintance Shankar Jogi's residence, Warhade had lunch with the kids and then at about 2 pm, he set off for Chargaon. At the dam, he first tried to drown the kids, but since he could not cope with their innocent cries, he stopped himself from the act.

A mellow Warhade then played with the kids for two hours, but once again hatred for his wife got the better of him and in a fit of rage, he threw the kids into the reservoir and walked away without looking back, said cops.

A few years ago when his father-in-law Raju Pathak was working in Neri, Warhade had befriended a few persons. He took their help to get shelter. Since the news of the double murder was out in the media, people got suspicious about the new person staying in the village since three days. "As people were getting curious to know his identity, Warhade tried to flee, but a mob caught him and handed him over the Chimur police. Later, he was handed over to the Shegaon police which booked him for committing cold-blooded murders," said cops.
