ANSONIA -- The father of the three-month-old child who died Thursday was arrested on charges of risk of injury to a minor Friday, more than a month after he was arrested on similar charges in Shelton for allegedly throwing a rack of compact disks at the child's mother while she was holding the baby.

Rodney Lee Brown, 26, of 104 Jewett St., was arraigned Friday in Derby Superior Court and is being held on $150,000 bond in connection with the death of his daughter, Alayziah. Brown has not been charged with the child's death, but "the arrest was in connection with the death of the three-month-old," police spokesman Lt. Wayne Williams said.

"Additional charges may be filed as the investigation proceeds."

About 9:50 p.m. Thursday night police received a call reporting a medical emergency involving a three-month old child at a Jewett Street residence, Williams said.

"The first arriving officers began providing medical assistance to the child and the child was transported by medical personnel to the Griffin Hospital" he said. "The child was pronounced dead at the hospital."

The Connecticut State Police Major Crimes Squad is investigating the incident with Ansonia detectives as a "suspicious death," Williams said.

An autopsy conducted on the child's body Friday didn't yield a cause of death, Lt. Andrew Cota said Friday afternoon. "The results are pending toxicology results," he said.

Last month Brown was arrested in Shelton for allegedly throwing a rack filled with compact disks at the child's mother, hitting her while she was holding Alayziah.

On Aug. 2 Brown was charged with risk of injury to a child and disorderly conduct after the incident took place at the Birmingham condominiums on Bridge Street, where the couple was living at the time, Shelton Det. Ben Trabka said.

At that time he was released on a promise to appear in Derby Superior Court on Sept. 17.
