This is one of the few news articles that acknowledges how the so-called Clueless Daddy obtained custody--by exploiting the mom's post-partum depression and leaving Australia ILLEGALLY for the U.S. Daddy didn't even report the murdered girl missing for weeks! Yet all he gets is deportation.....

The father of Zahra Baker, who was killed and dismembered by her stepmother, has been deported to Australia with his daughter's remains.
Adam Baker, 33, had moved to Hickory, North Carolina to be with Elisa Baker, whom he had met online and went on to marry.
Ten-year-old Zahra travelled with Mr Baker, who had gained custody of the child when her mother suffered postpartum depression.
But Zahra, who had lost a leg and her hearing to two bouts of bone cancer, soon began to endure abuse at the hands of her new stepmother.
When she was killed, her disappearance was not reported for weeks. Investigators eventually determined she had been killed.
They found her prosthetic leg and parts of her body scattered among animal remains across two counties.
Investigators also found parts of her vertebrae which indicated her spine had been sawed at the neck. They never found the girl's head.
Adam Baker was never arrested in connection with the murder of his daughter.
His attorneys told WSOC that Zahra's remains will be buried in a family plot in Australia.
Baker left the country two weeks ago, after he received a suspended sentence for misdemeanor crimes, the Charlotte Observer reported.
While charges remain against Baker in other counties, his attorney Shell Pearce said he did not think he would be made to return for hearings.
His departure comes after authorities revealed last year that Baker was in the country illegally and officials were organising his deportation.
Elisa Baker, 42, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in September last year and was sentenced to 15 to 18 years in jail.
She claimed she had found the child dead in her bed and, together with Baker, decided they couldn't report to police it as he was undocumented.
Adam Baker told his wife he 'would take care of it' and cut up the girl's body in a bathroom, his wife told police. He told his wife he needed her help in finding places to dispose of the body, she said.
Following Elisa Baker’s arrest, police found she had been married to someone else while married to Baker. At the time of the trial, he found out he was her seventh husband.

Dad with "post-natal depression" killed daughter (Bristol, England, United Kingdom)
Oh puleeze. Ever since I first heard about this whole "post-partum" depression for daddies thing, I figured it as just another crock of sh**. Either you're talking about garden-variety depression. Or you're talking about a dad like MARK BRUTON-YOUNG, who's just searching for an effective pseudo-defense as to why he deliberately murdered his infant daughter. Hint: the fact that Daddy had the wherewithall to search the internet "for months" looking for a way to kill a newborn child suggests to me that this is premeditated, 1st-degree murder--not a debillitating case of the baby blues.
And the FRs tell us that mothers--who actually do go through radical hormonal changes with pregnancy and childbirth--monopolize the mental health card. Um, don't think so.

Mark Bruton-Young, 36, an architect, allegedly murdered his daughter, Harriet, after he resented the intrusion of the “unplanned” baby into his married life, Bristol Crown Court heard.
The jury was told he used the search engine Google to research methods of killing his daughter after he failed to bond with her, and blamed her for his marriage problems.
Bruton-Young spent months on a work computer searching for ways to kill, including punching babies in the stomach, cot death, choking and poisoning, before deciding on suffocation, the jury heard.
Paul Dunkels, prosecuting, said: “It is the prosecution's case that having searched the internet for this information, being overwhelmed with being a father and resenting his child, he killed his daughter Harriet by suffocating her.”
Bruton-Young denies murder between June 26 and June 27 2009.
The court heard Harriet was an unplanned, unwanted child when she was born to her father and her mother, Clare, also an architect, of Kingsway, Glos., in December 2008.
Bruton-Young, an architect at RPS, a Bristol firm, had problems coping with the birth almost immediately.
Colleagues described him as ''depressed'' and claimed he spent all his time on his computer.
Mr Dunkels said: “It was not a planned pregnancy and from the outset her father had difficulty in coming to terms with fatherhood and was depressed by it.
“He resented the intrusion of Harriet into his married life. Using a computer at work to search for information, it provided a window into his thoughts and his intentions.
“Initially, he searched for information on bonding with your baby, depression and coping with fatherhood.”
But in early February 2009 Bruton-Young used a work computer to look at “how to get an unwanted baby adopted".
He searched for information on “how a child might be harmed or die and a baby being suffocated, and what signs might be detected if a baby was suffocated.''
Forensic searches on the hard-drives of three work computers found he made hundreds of searches between January and June 2009.
In January he Googled 'coming to terms with fatherhood'.
But by February these had developed into post natal depression searches and even "I thought I wanted kids but now I don't know", the court heard.
Over the next few months his searches explored death by anti-freeze poisoning, lead poisoning and the effects of punching a child in the stomach. He searched 'dies of suffocation' on June 8, 2009.
Mr Dunkels said: “The defendant's searches begin to concentrate on suffocation and the signs that might be left behind if a baby was suffocated.” The court head Bruton-Young had received counselling and was seeing a health visitor in the six months following Harriet's birth.
The trial continues.

Dad convicted of murdering 4-month-old son sentenced to 18 years in prison; dad blames the murder on his post natal depression (Perth, Australia)
During his trial, killer dad JOHN PATRICK O'KANE squeezed a lot of mileage out of his mental health issues, though the judge did determine that Daddy did not have a "psychiatric illness" per se. But the judge did buy that the poor dear wasn't feeling like himself, not with his "long-term depression" and all (but no allegations of schizophrenia or psychosis). The judge is even accepting that this father had POST NATAL DEPRESSION, and that this somehow contributed to the crime, the vicious murder of his 4-month-old son.
Wait, what the f***? How can a Daddy have post-natal depression? Um, you don't even have the baby-making machinery or hormones for that, dude!
We're told that mom Andrea Yates was abusing the system when her history of post-partum depression was raised at her trial a few years back. And yet nobody blinks when a FATHER claims post-partum depression for excusing the murder of his infant son?
Note that this guy is a repeat customer too, having served SIX YEARS in prison for abusing another child back in 1994--a fact that was hidden from the mother of the murdered child.
My take? Daddy sounds like one slick and manipulative @$$hole-- the kind that convince you to buy a truckload of ice at the North Pole. Otherwise, how could any reasonably competent judge buy this daddy's bull****?

THE unemployed truck driver who killed his son and physically abused him in the weeks before his death has been jailed for a minimum of 18 years.
John Patrick O'Kane, 41, who has pleaded guilty to the murder of his four month old son Zach on January 5 last year, wiped away tears and sniffled while sitting in the dock as he was sentenced in the WA Supreme Court today.
O'Kane kept the body of his son in the boot of his car for two days before burying the infant in a shallow bush grave in Wellington National Park near Collie.
In the weeks before Zach's death, O'Kane seriously physically assaulted the child. The court was told Mr O'Kane was suffering from depression and on the day he committed murder he had heard voices and "just snapped".
Justice Ralph Simmonds said he accepted that O'Kane did not intend to kill Zach and there was no plan or premeditation to the physical abuse.
"These were powerfully tragic and extremely difficult events involving a parent killing his infant child while aware of what he was doing," Justice Simmonds said.
Justice Simmonds sentenced O'Kane to life in jail with a minimum 18 years before he is eligible for parole.
After sentencing, O'Kane turned to the back of the court where Zach's mother Sylvia Schilling was seated with supporters but the two did not speak and he made no gestures.
The court heard that in 1994 while living in New South Wales, O'Kane was jailed for six years for causing grievous bodily harm to another child and kept the offence secret from Ms Schilling.
Justice Simmonds said while he could not add further punishment to O'Kane because he had assaulted another child, he noted the seriousness of the offence and noted it had shown a "dangerous precedent".
The judge said he accepted O'Kane had suffered long-term depression and possibly a type of post natal depression when he murdered his son but he had not suffered a psychiatric illness.
Ms Schilling did not comment as she was taken from the court building by a waiting car.
Outside of court Mr O'Kane's lawyer, Terry Dobson, offered an apology on his client's behalf.
"Mr O'Kane has instructed me that whilst words can not properly convey how sorry he is in what happened, he does want to apologise," Mr Dobson said.
"Obviously what he has done is a horrible thing, particularly the suffering he has caused baby Zach's mother and her family and of course his family as well."
Mr Dobson said O'Kane "still cannot explain exactly why this thing happened".
He O'Kane had told him he wanted to talk to Ms Schilling, who had at one point been barred by court order not to contact her de facto.
