BELIZE CITY–The 33-year-old father of a 12-year-old girl, of a Jane Usher Boulevard address, is accused of taking her to his house in the Lake I area on Independence Day Eve and raping her.

The incident allegedly occurred at about 6:00 Saturday evening, September 20.

When the child went home on Sunday, she reported the sexual abuse to her mother, and they went to the police on Sunday, Independence Day, and made a formal report that her father, a Salvadoran, had repeatedly raped her.

Police took the girl to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where she was examined by a doctor. At the conclusion of the examination, the doctor confirmed that the girl had been carnally known.

Police immediately began a search for the father of the girl. They found him and have charged him with rape/incest. -police blotter-

The sexual abuse of little girls by men who should be their protectors continues. Police are now seeking the father of a 3-year-old girl of Corozal.

About 2:30 yesterday afternoon, the child and her mother, her aunt and a social worker, went to the police and reported that on Sunday, while the child was sleeping in her father’s bed, her father touched her private parts, causing her pain and discomfort.

The child was taken to the Corozal Hospital, where she was examined by a doctor, who concluded that the child had been sexually assaulted.

Police immediately went to apprehend the father, but he has since absconded from Corozal. His current whereabouts are yet unknown.

The sexual abuse of little girls by older men continues. Police are now seeking the father of an 8-year-old girl, of Corozal, to charge him with aggravated assault upon a child.

The child told police that she has been sexually abused by her father, 46, since Sunday, November 4, 2012. According to the report the child made to police, on that day in November, she was at home alone sleeping in her bed when her father entered her room, slid his hands beneath the sheet and began fondling her private parts. He then performed oral sex on her. The child said that since the first occasion on which he abused her, he has frequently molested her when her mother was not at home.

On Sunday, October 6, 2013, the child, who got tired of the abuse, told her mother what was happening, and on Monday, October 14, 2013, the child and her mother went to the Corozal Police Station, where they lodged an official report.

The father disappeared on Sunday, October 6, when the child reported the matter to her mother, and is currently on the run from police.

Daughter’s Testimony of Abuse Sends Father To Jail

This morning, a 56 year old father was convicted aggravated assault of an indecent nature, and sentenced to three years in prison by Chief Magistrate Ann Marie Smith. We can't give you names or show you his face, but during the in camera trial, the victim, his now 16 year old daughter, testified that on March 24, her father fondled her breast and that that was not the first time, but the second. The child told the court that after the incident, she told her brother, who then took her to the police to report the matter. But in court, the father told the court that he was innocent of the crime and the only reason the child made up that story about him was because he and one of her brothers had a misunderstanding earlier.

The trial started last Thursday and this morning, when the father was returned to court, he was convicted of the crime and sentenced to three years.

FATHER, 47, GETS 9 YEARS FOR MOLESTING DAUGHTER, 12

A father, 47, has been found guilty of 10 counts of incest of his daughter, 12, in the Northern Session of the Supreme Court in Orange Walk. He was given a sentence of 49 years total for all 10 counts, but because the sentences are to be served concurrently, he will only spend 9 years in jail.

The sentence was handed down today, Thursday, by Justice Herbert Lord.

The father was convicted by a jury of nine persons, who found him guilty of the crimes last week Wednesday, June 19.

Police contend that the father frequently had sexual intercourse with his little daughter over a three-year period from May, 26, 2006, to April, 12, 2009. The child apparently became tired of the abuse and told her aunt what was happening, and they made a report to the police.

The father was then arrested, and the child taken to the doctor for an examination. At the conclusion, the doctor certified that the girl had been carnally known. The father was then charged with incest, and remanded to the Belize Central Prison.

The Crown was represented by Crown Counsel Sabita Maharaj. The father was unrepresented in court.

Father of 7-Year-Old Girl Commits Hideous Sex Crime

Another hideous sex offence against a child has come to the fore.

A 28 year old man who allegedly attempted to sexually assault his 7 year old daughter was charged with three sexual offences when he appeared today in the #4 Magistrate's court.

We can't tell you who he is or show you his picture because it could lead to the identity of the child. But we can tell you that the incident is alleged to have occurred on Sunday October second. The mother reported that she, her daughter and the child's father were sleeping in the same bed when she got up to use the bathroom and noticed that father and daughter were missing. When she investigated she saw her common law husband on top of the 7 year old.

He was charged with aggravated assault, attempted carnal knowledge and attempting to commit an unnatural crime.

Dad beats 4-year-old stepson for biting his own lip (Belize)

Dad CORNEL GOMEZ has been fined for beating his 4-year-old stepson with a belt, causing bruises and lacerations to the back and buttocks. I though I'd heard every stupid excuse there was for abusing a child, but never heard this one. Dad was annoyed because the CHILD WAS BITING HIS OWN LIP. Oh, the horror. This is a dad who seriously needs to get a grip.

Father Charged for Harming Son

We’ve all heard of spare the rod and spoil the child, but what about use the belt and pay a fine!? That’s what happened to a father who has been fined for beating his son with a belt! 21 year old Cornel Gomez, a resident of #123 Neal’s Pen Road bat his 4 year old step son with a belt and he was charged for harm for it.

He appeared in Magistrate’s Court today where he pleaded guilty to harm and Magistrate Kathleen Lewis fined him one thousand dollars. He has until March 31st to pay. If he doesn’t pay, he will serve six months in jail. In passing sentence, the Magistrate said that it is not that parents should not discipline their children; they should, but they should not go over the limit.

The incident happened on Thursday January 7th at Gomez’s residence. 35 year old Sandy Smith – who is the common law wife of the accused and mother of the child – reported to police that Gomez beat her son because he told her son not to bite his lip and the child continued to do it. A paediatrician later found that there were bruises and lacerations to his buttocks and back which were classified as harm.

Seems the 7-year-old son fell through a damaged ceiling while trying to retrieve a toy. But instead of making sure the child was okay after such a fall, dad JAMES LOCARIO HARVEY beat him with a metal object.

This morning a father was lucky not to be jailed after he was charged for beating his 7-year-old son so badly with a piece of metal object that the boy had to be taken to the KHMH for treatment.

On Wednesday, December 23, 7-year-old Joel Swasey, went into the ceiling of his house to get a toy and he fell. His father felt that he had no place being there at the time and that’s why he beat him as a means of disciplining the child.

But instead of being checked for injuries after such a great fall and making sure the boy was fine, his father, identified as 42-year-old James Locario Harvey decided to beat the child.

That disciplinary measure almost had him thrown in jail after he was charged in Magistrate’s Court this morning for wounding. Locario, a Mechanic and resident of #2 Myvette Street pleaded guilty to the charge despite not agreeing with the facts of the case. In court, Magistrate Lewis imposed a non-custodial sentence after she warned him of his action and noted that he went out of line in beating the child so badly after his falling incident.

In court, Locario claimed he beat the child because he got permission from the child’s mother to discipline the child. Locario said that he was at work when the child fell that day at around 2:00 p.m. Upon his arrival, he learnt that his son had gone up into the ceiling, and the ceiling, which has deteriorated, fell in with him. It was the child’s mother who reported to incident to the police which led to Locario’s arrest.

That day the child’s mother took him to the KHMH for treatment. A doctor who saw the child after the fall observed lacerations and abrasions to the lower back of young Swasey and classified his injuries as wounding. That’s when the mother reported that the child’s father had beaten him after the fall. Locario insisted to the magistrate that after he beat the child, there was no visible injuries and that the child was fine.

Despite his disagreement to the child not being injured, he pleaded guilty to the charge of wounding and said he did not want to waste the court’s time. For the guilty plea, Magistrate Lewis fined him $1,000 plus $5.00 cost of court to be paid by March 15, 2010 in default six months imprisonment. Locario also complained to the magistrate that his constitutional rights were violated after police held him in custody for five days. He claimed he was picked up on Christmas Eve and was brought to court five days later.

A 39-year-old Roaring Creek man who raped his 11-year-old daughter on several occasions, and threatened to kill the child if she ever told her mother, has been sentenced 57 years in jail.

When the child finally told her story, the man was arrested, convicted, and on Friday, August 21, was sentenced to 57 years in jail. But due to the configuration of his sentences, he will only spend only a part of that sentencea --19 years behind bars.

According to the testimony of the child her dad, with whom she lived with in Southern Belize, had sex with her repeatedly during from 2003 to 2006.

When they moved to Belize City, the molestation continued, and on each encounter he would threaten to kill her, if she told her mother or anyone else about his secret activity.

On August 6, 2009 a panel of 7 women and 2 men deliberated for less than 2 hours, and found the father guilty on seven counts involving incest, unnatural acts, and threats of death.

Justice Traodio “J” Gonzales of the Belmopan’s Magistrate’s Court, sentenced him to 21 years, 7 years each for incest, 36 years, 12 years each, for unnatural acts, and 6 months for his threats of death. The sentences will run concurrently, so he will only face 19 years of incarceration as punishment.

During mitigation pleas before sentencing, the father called two friends to talk on his behalf, and both character witnesses begged the court for leniency, saying that they knew the father to be “a very good person” They claimed that he was a law abiding citizen with no scar on his record prior to the allegations made against him by his daughter.

In court the accused man put up a stout denial, insisting that he never laid hand on his daughter.

But in view of the detailed information the child provided of when and where the jury had no trouble convicting him, and Judge Traodio Gonzalez imposed a heavy custodial sentence.

In May 2008, the defendant disappeared on the day his case was set to begin in the Belize Supreme Court. He was captured a year late and quickly brought to trial.

Babysitting stepdad ELIJAH MILLER is charged with pummelling his two-year stepson to death. Mom, who had to work, had left two children in his care. The stepdad lied to the mother about the child's injuries, and misrepresented what the doctor said about the child. The child later died of lung complications caused by abdominal trauma.

On the morning of Wednesday July 1, Orange Walk Police escorted a handcuffed Elijah Miller, 25, for the short walk from the station to the Magistrate’s Court where he was charged for the murder of his two year old stepson. Miller is accused of doing the unthinkable, mercilessly pummeling to death his two year old stepson Ezekiel Tejeda. The incident unfolded in the quiet village of Tower Hill. There are 450 residents in that community and as the name suggests it is located near the Tower Hill Sugar Factory on the outskirts of Orange Walk Town. It was on the Old Northern Highway that Tejeda lived with his mother and her boyfriend Elijah Miller along with two older siblings.

Felicia, who is a juice vendor at BELCOGEN, says she left the children, including Ezekiel, a three year old and a five year old, in care of Elijah on Friday morning. She returned Friday evening and immediately felt something was wrong. All the children were asleep and Ezekiel wasn’t the same. She says the baby was fussy, complaining that his stomach hurt. She says Elijah told her it was probably something the baby had eaten and persuaded her that she should just buy an Alka Seltzer. But the young mother wasn’t convinced and took the baby to the emergency room at the Orange Walk Hospital where he was seen by a doctor who after checking his pulse and temperature prescribed medication and released the child in the custody of the parents. Felecia laments that she never spoke to the doctor, only Elijah Miller did, suggesting that the cause of the baby’s problem was mango, mosquitoes, and smoke.

From the hospital, the couple returned to Tower Hill. She says it was an uncomfortable ride home, noting that she saw bruises and, “I asked him at hospital that if he did anything to my baby he would pay for what he did and I asked him and he said nothing… he said all he did was bathe him after they finished eating the mango and he lashed them because they were giving trouble and he put them to sleep.”

On their arrival back in Tower Hill, Elijah went home with Ezekiel, and Felecia went to her mother’s house for money to buy the medication prescribed by the doctor. It was while looking for money that she found the truth. One of her other children detailed to her the horrific abuse that Ezekiel endured allegedly at the hands of her boyfriend. On the steps of the Belize City Morgue we met Felecia Tejeda on Monday afternoon; she told The Guardian that, “my two babies tell me that the boy hurt the baby the morning. They said the boy took the baby and fling him up and stoned him on the wall and stoned him with a pint bottle.”

After hearing that her son had been violently shook, flung in the air, and stoned with a pint bottle she rushed home and found out that Elijah had already taken the baby boy back to the emergency room. Personnel at the hospital’s emergency room told her that her son was in surgery and a short while later they told her that her two year old baby boy died during surgery. There were multiple injuries and a post mortem on Monday certified that Ezekiel had injuries to his abdomen, bowels, and intestines. He died from lung complications caused by abdominal trauma.
