Dad arrested for beating death of 4-year-old son (Lagos, Nigeria)

Sounds like CHRIS ELVIS is a single father, as there is no mention of the boy's mother living in or even moving into the compound in question. Wonder what happened to the mother? With a father this unstable and violent, the question needs to be asked.

Father Beats Son To Death

George Okojie — February 12, 2014

An angry father, Mr. Chris Elvis who resides at No 7, Adetola Adelaja Street, Meiran area of Lagos State has allegedly beaten his four-year-old son to death.

LEADERSHIP learnt that he beat his son Godrich to death with an object that inflicted deep cuts all over his body, claiming that the boy was an Ogbanje, a term for an evil child that dies and reincarnates repeatedly.

To ensure that he terminates his life, Elvis was said to have closed his lips with a padlock to prevent him from shouting while snuffing life out of him.

Having accomplished his mission, Elvis who claims to sell computer accessories, locked his son, Godrich in the room and made frantic efforts to escape.

However, LEADERSHIP gathered that before he could escape, his landlady, Mrs Popoola alerted the police who stormed the house at about 9pm, Monday night to arrest Elvis who told the police that nothing had happened but the police sensing that he was trying to cover up the crime forced the locked room open and found the dead boy with a padlock to his mouth.

Commenting on the incident, the landlady’s husband, Mr. Olusola Adejumo said the man had been acting strange since he moved into the compound last year.

Meanwhile, the police at Meiran have taken the boy’s corpse away and deposited it at the Ota General Hospital, while the man is currently being detained at Meiran and would be transferred to the Area ‘M’ Police Division in Lagos for further investigation.
