Dantia/Bhopal: Unhappy with a second girl child Bhopal’s Ansar Qureshi threw his newborn daughter from train on the railway tracks near Dantia on July 8. In a miracle, the 16-day-old girl escaped death with superficial injuries.

The incident came to light when Qureshi’s wife Asma saw a missing ad in a newspaper and inquired her husband him about their daughter on Thursday. Nooran--Qureshi’s mother-in-law said, “My son-in-law wasn’t happy with second daughter. He took her along with him on June 22 and told us he is going back to Bhopal. My daughter was in the hospital. We reached here and came to know that the girl is missing.”

Asma Qureshi gave birth to a daughter on June 22 in a private nursing home in Gwalior. It is learnt that her husband initially refused to even look at the girl. Later, he told his in-laws that he is going to Bhopal with his newborn daughter. Qureshi threw his 16-day-old daughter from a speeding train to get rid of her.

The abandoned child was rescued by GRP officials and admitted to a hospital in Dantia. Asma came to know about her through a missing ad published in a newspaper.

Qureshi has been booked for attempt to murder and relevant sections of IPC.
