Lucedale man accused of felony child abuse

GEORGE COUNTY -- Sheriff's investigators Wednesday arrested a father on a felony charge accusing him of abusing his 3-month-old, according to a George County Sheriff's Department news release.

Wendell Kevin Bozeman, 18, of Lucedale, was arrested at a his home on North Side Church Road without incident Wednesday afternoon.

An investigation was launched after Bozeman took the child to the George County Regional Medical Center's emergency room Tuesday night for treatment. The child had suffered multiple fractures to the body, authorities said.

Doctors immediately suspected the child had been the victim of physical abuse and called sheriff's deputies to investigate.

Bozeman was taken into custody on a charge of felony child abuse.

After the arrest, he was taken to the George County jail, where he is expected to remain jailed pending an initial court appearance Thursday.
