Dad arrested on suspicion of burning 8-month-old infant (Kern County, California)

The dad is JEREMIAH PENDLEY. No mention of a mother in the home.

Father arrested on suspicion of burning baby in bath

On 10/9/11, Kern County Sheriff's Deputies from the Mojave Substation began a suspicious circumstance possible child abuse investigation that occurred in the 2800 blk of Oak Creek Rd, in Mojave. Deputies were contacted by personnel from Antelope Valley Hospital and later from the West Hills Hospital, Grossman Burn Center regarding an 8-month old child suffering from scald burns.

The 5-day investigation found the child's father (Jeremiah Pendley, 25 yrs, from Mojave) allegedly bathed the child on 10/8/11 that caused the child's injuries. According to medical staff at the Grossman Burn Center, the child suffered 1st, 2nd, and 3rd degree burns below the waist, needing surgery. The child is currently in stable condition.

On 10/14/11, Deputies from the Mojave Substation prepared an Arrest Warrant for Pendley, requesting charges of PC 273a(a)-felony child endangerment and PC 12022.7(d)-causing great bodily injury to a child under 5 yrs of age.

The warrant was issued at 8:30 pm and at 10:15 pm Pendley was arrested at his home, without incident and booked into the Mojave Jail. Bail was set at $45,000.00.
