Dalton father arrested for child abuse

DALTON, GA (CBS ATLANTA) - Dalton police arrested a 26-year-old on Sunday in connection with injuries to his daughter.

Brian Lee Yerty is charged with two counts of cruelty to children and one count of family violence battery.

According to officers, when paramedics were called to his home the baby was having a seizure. The child was taken to Hamilton Medical Center by ambulance, and officers were called to investigate.

A witness at the scene reported seeing Yerty shake the infant earlier in the day to stop her from crying.

Police say further charges are possible for Yerty.

The infant was later released from the hospital and placed in foster care.
