A Brentwood man, Angelo Deleon, has been charged in a three count indictment with causing the death of his infant girl by violently shaking her, Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota said.
#The victim, 47-day-old Genesis Deleon, was shaken to death by her father on October 30 in their home in Brentwood. He alone was her caretaker that day in their house.
#Today before State Supreme Court Justice Mark Cohen in Riverhead, Deleon, 51, pleaded not guilty to charges of murder in the second degree and manslaughter in the first degree. Justice Cohen set cash bail at $250,000 and bond at $250,000.
#A third charge in the indictment, reckless assault of a child, is a separate crime that allegedly occurred a few days prior to the fatal shaking of the victim on the morning of October 30. Reckless assault of a child is a class D felony punishable by a maximum prison sentence of two and one-third to seven years. Deleon pleaded not guilty to the charge.
#Angelo Deleon will return to court on December 17.
