Dad with history of DV shoots 15-year-old son, self; both in critical condition (Plymouth, Massachusetts)
What the hell is going on here? If dad RICHARD PANEPINTO had once before beat his son's mother with a baseball bat, then why the hell wasn't Daddy's @$$ parked in prison for assault? What happened to the attempted murder charges? Why were they dropped, and who made that decision? What happened to Mom after that? Why is this article silent about what happened to her? Why does she disappear from the story? (Except for this poor injured boy with a gunshot wound to the abdomen begging a neighbor to "call my mom" and "tell her I love her.") So Mom didn't live with the boy?
Was Daddy custodial? Sure looks like it. If so, how and why did he get custody and WHO GAVE IT TO HIM? Is it because Mom was disabled from Daddy's beating? So why would this violent criminal be allowed ANY CONTACT WITH A CHILD much less custody? How does he keep getting guns?
Anybody with half a brain could have seen this coming. Daddy attempted murder before, got off scott-free. So you place a child with this @$$hole and just hope for the best? Are we really surprised that Daddy attempted murder AGAIN?
DADDY CODDLING AT ITS FINEST--with predictable results.

Family: Dad Was Waiting With Gun For Teen
Plymouth Man Accused Of Shooting Son, Self

BOSTON -- A Plymouth father has been accused of shooting his teenage son and turning the gun on himself on Jamies Path off Route 80 near the Colony Place shopping area.
Officers said the incident started as a domestic dispute about 5:30 p.m. Richard Panepinto, 53, was found in the driveway with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest.
"He's a good kid. He is a real good kid. He just doesn't deserve this," said Rita Webster, the teen's grandmother.
It's been a torturous 24 hours for the boy's grandmother, who said his father was waiting in the driveway for him to come home Tuesday.
"He was coming home from basketball practice. Apparently, he was waiting there," Webster said.
Police said Panepinto shot his 15-year-old son, Shawn, and then shot himself in their driveway. A neighbor carried the boy to safety.
"He had said, 'Am I going to die?' He said, 'Make sure you call my mom.' I said, 'No Shawn. Just relax.' He said, 'Call my mom. Tell her I love her,'" neighbor Mark Miller said.
Family members said Shawn was shot once in the abdomen. They said it's not the first time his father's been violent. Five years ago, neighbors say he lashed out at the boy's mother.
"She was beaten with a bat. Shawn called 911," neighbor Bob Nash said
Court records show he was charged with assault with intent to murder after beating his wife with two bats in a bathroom.
Family and neighbors said there's a long history of trouble.
"We were concerned with all the weapons they pulled out. I don't know how he gets the gun again," Nash said.
"I couldn't imagine it happening to my family. We are an extremely close family," Webster said.
Police said both were still alive and were in critical condition in Boston hospitals. Panepinto is under police guard and is charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, armed assault with intent to murder, unlicensed possession of a firearm and domestic assault and battery.
