Dad charged with abusing 2-year-old son during weekend visitation (Franklintown, Louisiana)

Seems dad MONCHEA MCCANT got frustrated while trying to potty train his son during weekend visitation. So he literally busted the little boy's head (fractured his skull). And that's not going into the fractures and liver and kidney damage. And after doing all that to a helpless toddler, daddy's out on bond.

FRANKLINTON, La. -- Washington Parish Sheriff's Office officials said a man is facing child abuse charges after his 2-year-old son was found suffering from bruises, broken bones and head trauma.

In Early December, 2-year-old Knowledge Davis went to spend time with his father, but the visit ended with the boy spending several days in Children's Hospital.

Kimber Davis said what started as a weekend visit for her son to spend time with his father turned into a nightmare when she noticed something different about the boy when she went to pick him up.

"All I could see is the left eye was black and closed," Davis said. "This eye was just black. He had a scab mark under his lip on his chin."

Davis took the boy to the sheriff's department to document his injuries and to a hospital in Bogalusa, where she learned there was trauma to his head, police said. He was then referred to Children's Hospital in New Orleans.

"They told me that my son was fractured in the skull from the front and a cracked skull in the back," Davis said.

The discharge papers called it "non-accidental trauma." Knowledge also had a fractured rib and damage to his liver and kidney, according to doctors.

Davis said police told her that the boy's father admitted that he had been trying to potty train the child and struck him because he urinated on himself.

Beyond dealing with her son's severe physical scars, Davis said the mental and emotional ones run even deeper.

"Don't nobody understand that I have to bathe my son every night. I have to get up in the middle of the night with him when he is scared," Davis said. "He takes out his anger. My son is not the same son anymore."

The WPSO has filed second-degree cruelty to a juvenile charges against the father, Monchea McCant. He's currently out on bond.

Davis said she hopes sharing her story will help ensure justice is served.

"This is not over with, because I'm going to fight," she said. "I'm going to keep fighting."

There is currently a restraining order against McCant. He is not allowed to have any contact with his son, pending the outcome of this case.
