Dad accused of raping 6-year-old son had been reported for sexual abuse 3 years before--but nothing happened (Albuquerque, New Mexico)

We posted on this case last week. The case where the police took the "alleged" rapist daddy SHAUN DEROSSETT to a truck stop for the night, rather than parking his @$$ in jail. Don't want to arrest anybody (i.e. a man) on a "false" rape accusation, do we?

Except that the sh** around daddy is piling up higher and deeper. Turns out the son's daycare providers reported sexual abuse suspicions THREE YEARS AGO. But the father-friendly cops and their buddies at CYFD can't "find" any record of it. Surprise, surprise.

More cover-up and official protection for rapists and molesters. What else is new.

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Cops say a 6-year-old boy was sexually assaulted by his father for a couple years. A tipster said day care workers alerted Children, Youth and Families Department (CYFD) to the problem even before that, but nothing happened.

KRQE News 13 told you about Shaun Derossett last week. The accused child rapist who wasn't arrested at first but dropped off at a truck stop until police could get a specialist to interview the boy.

Late Wednesday night a tipster contacted KRQE News 13 with much more to this story.

Shaun Derossett is still in jail from his Christmas time arrest, but a tipster says he should have been there much earlier.

That tipster, who wants to remain anonymous, said Derossett's 6 year-old son told daycare workers that his father was inappropriately touching him. That was three years ago. That tipster said the daycare alerted CYFD in 2009.

Spokesman Enrique Knell said, “It’s difficult to tell what happened in this case and I’m not in a position to confirm or say that we have not received any phone calls.”

CYFD was under a different director back then and Knell said he has staff looking through all their records to see if a tip was called in. The problem is some tips are passed along to other agencies.

“We have reports that are either screened in for further investigation or screened out,” said Knell. “We also have a majority of our calls that are also cross reported to law enforcement or other agencies.”

If the tip is vague CYFD turns it over to other agencies to see what they can find. Once a call is screened out, CYFD said it's out of its hands, “We don't have a process where we track what happens with phone calls that are screened out.”

Knell said any tip is important, but those called in by teachers and daycare workers are even more so because of how much time those educators spend with children.

“Those are calls we look very closely at and that we take very seriously,” said Knell.

CYFD said it's trying to track down if it did get a tip on Shaun Derossett, and say it's possible that they did but no longer have the paper record of that tip. Investigators are having to comb through paper records because CYFD didn't start entering tips into a computer network until 2010.
