Dad with history of domestic violence charged in beating of 6-month-old daughter (Bellbrook, Ohio)

So horrible, yet so predictable. Honestly, what would you predict the results would when you have a babysitting father with a history of domestic violence (like SHAWN KOVAL) and a working mother? Just what you would think. A six-month-old baby nearly beaten to death (she's currently in critical condition). Yet judges routinely give dads like Koval custody or unsupervised visitation all the time.

More, serious charges for man who beat infant daughter

BELLBROOK, Ohio -- The Sugarcreek Township man accused of beating his infant daughter could be facing more serious charges.

Police said Monday morning that the condition of the 6-month-old baby is getting worse, after her father, Shawn Koval, allegedly beat her on Friday night.

Police also said Koval, 19, was drinking when he attacked the baby while watching her at his Sugarcreek Township apartment while her mother was a work.

Koval was supposed to be arraigned Monday morning on charges of assault and underage consumption of alcohol.

However, when he arrived in Xenia Municipal Court, authorities had dropped the assault charge because prosecutors said they plan to file more serious, felony charges in the case.

Authorities said the baby girl was taken to Children's Medical Center Friday night and was in critical condition all weekend. On Monday morning, they reported her condition had taken a turn for the worse.

Court records indicate that Shawn Koval does have a history of violence, already serving jail time for prior incidents with the child's mother.

Prosecutors said he will likely be arraigned on more serious charges on Tuesday.
