Police: Why didn't CPS tell us about abusive father before 8-year-old daughter died? (Schertz, Texas)

Dad DAVID BRASSE has been charged with criminally negligent homicide after hs 8-year-old daughter died from an infected appendix. Local police are angry that CPS never told them about the father's history of neglect and abuse, and never followed up on them after they moved to the area (in other words, typical CPS indifference/incompetence).

INVISIBLE MOTHER ALERT: Not a word here about the mother. It certainly sounds like this is a case of single father.

The Schertz police department is saying that Child Protective Services failed to protect a little girl from her father. So detectives their are taking their fight to lawmakers.

"I believe she would be alive today if this had been brought to light," Jonathon Patrick, Schertz Police Department. The eight year-old girl died from an infected appendix and her father, David Brasse is accused of criminally negligent homicide.

Schertz police are puzzled about why C.P.S. kept them in the dark about the child's history of abuse and neglect. Police say when the family away from Bexar county a case worker was never assigned to follow up. "You can't do anything about a problem if you don't know it exists," said Patrick. "And had someone followed up their transfer her Guadalupe they would have been discovered ."

Schertz police met with Senator Carlos Euresti to call for an internal investigation. No word yet on the outcome.

Brasse's trial is coming up in September. He's out on bond. If he's convicted he faces up to 99 years in prison.
