A Fairfield man is behind bars on allegations of child abuse after his infant suffered life-threatening injuries that police found suspicious.
The 2-month-old infant was taken to NorthBay Medical Center on Thursday for a possible seizure and shallow breathing, police said.
There, medical staff deemed the child's condition to be life-threatening and called for an air ambulance to transport the infant to Children's Hospital in Oakland.
Police said the child's injuries appeared to be from nonaccidental trauma.
The father, 44-year-old Fairfield resident Kelvin Moody, was taken into custody following an interview with police. He was booked into Solano County Jail on suspicion of assault on a child likely to produce great bodily injury, police said.
The child remains hospitalized.
Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call the Fairfield Police Department Investigations Unit at 428-7600.
