The medical examiner is now saying that the 3-year-old boy who was fatally injured during weekend visitation with his father died from a "bowel perforation due to blunt force abdominal trauma." This poor baby also had more than 30 bruises.
Incidentally, studies show that most blunt force abdominal injuries in children are inflicted by fathers and boyfriends:

Medical examiner: Child died from abdominal trauma
By: Todd South
A 3-year-old child whose death is under police investigation likely died from “bowel perforation due to blunt force abdominal trauma,” according to the Hamilton County medical examiner.
The child, a black male who weighed 32 lbs., was brought to T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital at 5 a.m. Saturday.
The boy was brought to the hospital by his father’s girlfriend on a complaint that he was having difficulty breathing, said Sgt. Jerri Weary, a Chattanooga Police Department spokeswoman. The medical staff found signs of abuse and determined he was dead, Sgt. Weary said.
The medical examiner found more than 30 bruises on the child’s body.
