Father Charged With Assault, Endangering His Child
A Vandalia man has been accused of assaulting and endangering his own child.

Phillip M. Hardin-Moore, 25, Vandalia, was babysitting his 2-month-old son on Monday, March 1, when medics were dispatched to his home on Continental Court around 4:40 p.m., the Vandalia Police Department said.

Brittani Hampton, the child's mother, told News Center 7 she dialed 911 thinking the child had been accidentally dropped. Emergency crews took the infant to Dayton Children's Medical Center immediately.

Investigations revealed that Hardin-Moore became upset with his child's behavior and injured him on multiple occasions.

Hampton said her son would sometimes have a strange coloration. As a first-time mother, she did not know if the child had bruises or if it was color coming in. She said that since the arrest, Hardin-Moore admitted to her that he shook the baby several times and later confessed more disturbing details to her.

Hampton said her son is recovering at the hospital.

Hardin-Moore is being held in the Montgomery County on four counts each of felonious assault and child endangerment.
