Dad in jail on charges of child abuse; daughter has head fracture (Delta, Colorado)

Of course, dad LEOBARDO RINCON had some cock-and-bull explanation--he said his daughter fell when she was standing on her stroller. He also told the medics who came to the scene that the little girl didn't need to go the hospital. The medics saw how lethargic the child was and disagreed. Turns out that the girl had a fractured skull. Hospital personnel say there is no way she could have fallen and sustained the injuries she got. Dad insisted that the girl had pulled the same stunt three weeks before. I guess that didn't fly so Dad changed his story again, and admitted that he had "lost it" and hit the girl in the head. And now dad's @$$ is parked in jail. Not a word about Mom. Was dad babysitting or what?

DELTA (KJCT) -- A Delta man sits in jail facing charges of child abuse resulting serious bodily injury. Leobardo Rincon, 28, was arrested Saturday.

Emergency personnel were called out to El-D-Rado Motel in Delta after Rincon told paramedics his daughter had fallen out of a stroller, according to an affidavit. The Child had suffered a fracture to the back of the head and was transported to Delta Memorial Hospital.

Hospital staff called police because of the nature of the injuries and statements allegedly made by Rincon. Doctors discovered the child had sustained trauma to the top of the head and bruising around the eye-- injuries not consistent with a fall, the affidavit said.

Rincon allegedly told paramedics the child was standing on her stroller when she fell and hit her head. He allegedly told them on scene that the child was ok and did not need to go to the hospital. Paramedics disagreed and said the child appeared lethargic and needed immediate medical care.

Rincon told police the child had fallen off the stroller three weeks prior and he had iced her head. He later admitted he "lost it" and struck the child on the head Saturday, according to the affidavit.

The child was airlifted to Saint Mary's Hospital. Her condition is not known at this time. Rincon remains in the Delta County Jail on a $60-thousand bond.
